David Cook is once again following in Carrie Underwood's footsteps -- this time literally.

The American Idol seventh-season champ has signed a global endorsement agreement with Skechers USA, Inc. to advertise footwear for the company through December 2009.  Underwood endorsed Sketchers in 2005 after she claimed Idol's fourth-season crown that spring.

"I have always viewed Skechers as a cool company, so I am excited to be a part of their campaign," said Cook. "They've had some sensational singers like Carrie Underwood and Christina Aguilera as they were starting out and it will be great to be a part of the Skechers roster."

The 25-year-old Blue Spings, MO native's image will be used in a variety of different print, outdoor and in-store advertisements that will launch this fall and coincide with both the American Idols Live! 2008 tour and Cook's debut album.

"We are thrilled that David will be representing Skechers in our marketing campaigns around the world," said Skechers president Michael Greenberg. "As a dynamic performer with a friendly, approachable personality, he's a perfect fit for the Skechers brand and an exciting next step for our tradition of successful partnerships with emerging music stars."

Cook's deal makes him the first male celebrity on the Skechers roster since actor Robert Downey Jr. in 2002.
