Perhaps FOX should have quit when it was ahead with The Simple Life. Or at least not have attempted to air the program outside its previous successful Tuesday timeslot.

According to preliminary Nielsen ratings, FOX's ninth (and final?) The Simple Life episode drew only 7.7 million viewers and a 3.7/9 rating/share in the Adults 18-49 demographic -- figures that placed it well behind the 18 million viewers and 7.7/19 Adults 18-49 numbers that NBC's Fear Factor drew in winning the hour.
Despite having its Simple Life lead-in plan backfire, FOX's My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance managed to still perform well for the network, drawing 13.3 million viewers and a 6.2/14 in Adults 18-49.
