The Voice coach made the "I hate this country" remark when he realized two of the three remaining finalists on his team were getting eliminated as a result of home viewer voting following Monday night's performance show on NBC.
America's vote ultimately sent home Judith Hill and Sarah Simmons, who were both deemed favorites by all the coaches throughout the competition.
After Levine offered up the controversial comment, critics lit up social media.
Hill and Simmons' ousters allowed fellow coach Blake Shelton's team member Holly Tucker to survive. With his entire team still intact, Shelton's playful gloating seemed to spark more of a reaction out of Levine.
