So much for American Idol 3's squeaky-clean semi-finalist contestants reputation. After getting halfway through the semi-finals round without a single contestant begin booted due to legal or moral issues, Idol hopeful Donnie Williams was arrested this week for driving drunk and speeding at 100 MPH while returning home from a party thrown in his honor.

After being cited, Williams was released into another person's care and his car was towed and stored. Danville Police would not release Williams' blood-alcohol level, but said while it was over the legal limit, it did not reach the .16 threshold (twice legal limit of .08) which results in booking and jailing. Williams later retreived the car around noontime Monday.
A publicist for American Idol told the Times that they did not know how the arrest might affect Williams' future on the program. "I don't have any comment on it right now," publicist Kim Fitzgerald told the paper. "I don't know much about it, and we don't have any comment on it right now."
