Astrid Loch and Kevin Wendt met on Season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise when it was filmed in Mexico in Summer 2018.
The couple hit it off immediately, and everything seemed to be going well until Kevin blindsided and dumped Astrid before they were supposed to go on an overnight date in a Bachelor in Paradise Fantasy Suite together, saying he wasn't ready to get engaged after knowing Astrid only a few weeks.
The breakup came as a shock to Astrid considering Kevin had expressed he was in love with her during filming and the couple had been solid for most of the season.
Kevin later said he was dealing with demons from his past, stemming from his failed relationship with the star of The Bachelorette Canada as well as Ashley Iaconetti, who chose to end things shortly after their appearance on The Bachelor Winter Games in early 2018.
They reconciled in front of the world on Bachelor in Paradise's fifth-season reunion show in September 2018, and have been together ever since.
In late August 2019, Astrid and Kevin got engaged when he proposed marriage with a custom-designed ring on Toronto Island in Canada.
"08.28.19. I could have sworn the world stood still in this moment," Astrid, 29, captioned a series of Instagram photos from the special day in which Kevin got down on one knee in the sand with a city skyline in the background.
"A moment I'll never forget. Just you + me. @kevin.c.wendt you've taught me to love, learn and grow and I can't believe you've chosen me to spend this crazy life with. Wonder if I'll ever stop smiling? Probably not. In this together, forever. #sugar."
Astrid and Kevin originally planned to get married on November 13. 2020 but decided to postpone their wedding plans for a year in July 2020 due to the pandemic.
"Well y'all, time to give you guys a wedding update. We've decided to postpone to November 2021 & weirdly enough we're actually okay with it," Astrid wrote.
"With everything going on in the world, uncertainty ahead, and so many changes happening in our lives (more on that soon) we realized it was time to take a step back and reevaluate our priorities."
"And as much as I was disappointed at first (mostly bc now we won't get married on Friday the 13th) it's been a great reminder of why we're getting married in the first place," she added.
"A dream come true," Astrid captioned an Instagram posting showing the couple posing with ultrasound photos.
"One of the first conversations @kevin.c.wendt and I had was about how we both loved kids and couldn't wait to have our own. When I think about Kev holding our little angel for the first time my heart flutters. Even in my wildest dreams I couldn't have imagined how amazing this would all feel."
Astrid then provided a message to all of the couples out there trying to get pregnant.
"My heart is with you. We know first hand how hard it can be to see these kinds of posts and feel sad & discouraged. We too struggled with fertility and conceiving naturally -- it's the toughest thing we've ever been through and I can't wait to share more of how we got here," Astrid continued.
"But today is finally about some good news & we hope you can enjoy it with us. #babywendt #ivf #infertility #infertilityawareness."
According to the couple, Astrid underwent multiple intrauterine inseminations and two vitro fertilizations after they spent a year trying to conceive a baby naturally.
Astrid gave birth to the couple's first child in November 2021.
Kevin and Astrid finally tied the knot in October 2022.
The couple got married on Friday, October 28 in front of 100 guests at the Powel Crosley Estate in Sarasota, FL.
