Ali Fedotowsky claims she was surprised that an "overwhelming" amount of her The Bachelorette suitors singled out bachelor Justin for not being there for the right reasons during the sixth-season's initial cocktail reception.

"I was shocked. Talking with him he seemed so nice and sincere!" Fedotowsky wrote in her People blog about last night's The Bachelorette premiere broadcast.

"Justin thought the guys chose him because he is a wrestler, and I honestly feel bad that a few of the guys were making fun of something he loves to do. Okay, an entertainment wrestler isn't the type of guy I'd normally date, but I commend him for doing what makes him happy regardless of what others think. I decided to keep Justin because he was nothing but nice to me."

Fedotowsky added she felt "really bad" the guys had to vote for someone they felt wasn't there for the right reasons.

"But having their advice that night couldn't be a bad thing," said Fedotowsky, who decided against listening to a majority of her suitors and presented Justin, a 26-year-old entertainment wrestler from Toronto, Canada, with a rose to keep him in the competition.

The 25-year-old former The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love bachelorette also discussed her decision to give her first-impression rose to Roberto, a 26-year-old insurance agent from Charleston, SC.

"I really wanted to make sure that I thought carefully about who received the first-impression rose," she explained.

"I wanted to give it to a guy that I could see a future with and on the first night, I got that feeling from Roberto. I just felt so comfortable with him and there was an immediate connection. Plus, he is super hot, which didn't hurt."

The Bachelorette sixth-season premiere ended with Fedotowsky cutting her first eight bachelors, and she expressed remorse that she didn't get to know them better before letting them go.

"Letting eight guys go at the end of the night was hard," she said.

"In particular, I really would have liked to spend more time with Phil and Jay. They both seem like fun, genuine guys that I would have liked to have gotten to know better."

Fedotowsky also explained that her decision to eliminate Derrick, a 28-year-old sales manager from Warren, MI, had nothing to do with the embarrassing story he told her that ended with him getting the nickname "Shooter."

"I hope Derrick's friends aren't giving him too hard of a time for telling me that story. He was a good sport," she said.

"I'm sure many of you are wondering if I didn't give him a rose because he told me that story. No, that was not the case. I had to let eight guys go and I just didn't think Shooter was a match for me, regardless of, well, you know."

The Bachelorette's next sixth-season episode will air Monday, May 31 at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
