The 38-year-old singer will become one of the few country stars to appear on the late night sketch comedy series. NBC announced the news Tuesday on Twitter, writing, "And even more great news! @BlakeSheltonwill make his #SNL debut as host and musical guest January 24!"

Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton and Taylor Swift are among the country heavyweights who previously hosted and performed on the show. Comedian Kevin Hart will host the program's first new episode of 2015, with musical guest Sia on January 17.

Shelton has served as a coach on NBC reality competition "The Voice" since its premiere in 2011. The singer guided contestant Craig Wayne Boyd of Team Blake Shelton to victory in December, earning his fourth win on the series.

Shelton released his eighth studio album, "Bringing Back the Sunshine," in September.

The record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and includes the singles "Neon Light" and "Lonely Tonight" featuring Ashley Monroe.
