Bravo announced it has ordered Top Chef: Just Desserts and has also begun casting for the new Top Chef spinoff.
Casting for the series will commence on October 26 in Chicago and continue over the next few weeks -- with additional stops in Washington, D.C., Boston, Atlanta, New York, Boston, Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Portland. More information is available via Bravo's website.
Top Chef: Just Desserts is the second Top Chef spinoff Bravo has ordered. Last summer, it ordered Top Chef Masters, which pits critically-acclaimed chefs against each other in a tournament-style competition. Top Chef Masters' first season subsequently aired earlier this year and was won by Rick Bayless. It was renewed for a second season last week. Bravo also has two additional Top Chef projects in development: Top Chef Junior, a teenage culinary competition it first announced in 2008, and a new docu-reality series starring former Top Chef fifth-season finalist Fabio Viviani. Bravo renewed Top Chef for a seventh season earlier this month and is currently casting for the new edition. Top Chef's sixth edition -- dubbed Top Chef: Las Vegas -- premiered in August and is currently airing. Top Chef: Just Desserts will be produced by Magical Elves, with co-founders Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz -- the same duo behind Top Chef and Top Chef Masters -- serving as the show's executive producers.
