Dave Flaherty and Amber Martorana appeared on Season 7 of Married at First Sight, which was filmed in Dallas, TX.
Dave and Amber never lacked intimacy and a physical connection in their marriage, but Amber constantly fought insecurities about her appearance, whether she was making a good wife, and whether Dave truly liked her and was falling for her.
Amber's insecurities and emotional reactions to things led to a lot of disagreements and tension, with Dave's patience wearing thin over time.
But Dave grew to care about Amber deeply, and she continued to work on her issues -- resulting in a mutual decision to remain married on "Decision Day" that filmed in late May 2018.
Three months later however, Amber and Dave appeared on Married at First Sight's Season 7 reunion show and revealed they would be divorcing following after an argument that resulted in Amber deciding to move out.
While Amber was willing to continue working on the relationship, Dave was not.
"There have been some questions about the status of our marriage, so I wanted to confirm @daveflaherty80 and I have filed for divorce," she wrote in an Instagram posting.
"Extra thankful this year," Amber captioned a sweet photo showing her smiling with future husband Rob Reel. "Can't wait to marry my best friend."
In April 2020, Lifetime aired a Married at First Sight: Where Are They Now? special that provided updates on some of MAFS's former participants.
In his Where Are They Now? update video, Dave said he had been casually dating and was about to leave Dallas and move to California.
"Life for me after the show has been slowly getting back to normal, been dating a little bit, that's been interesting," he said.
"[I] don't see Amber much these days -- we've kept in contact a bit, certainly no animosity there, at least on my part. I certainly hope she's doing well and wish her nothing but the best."
