David "Dr. Drew" Pinsky feels a stint on his Celebrity Rehab reality series could have saved Corey Haim's life.

"He wasn't embracing treatment in any real way," Pinsky told People on Thursday, adding Haim recently told Celebrity Rehab producers "I do not need help."

Pinsky disagreed.

"He's dead. Do you need to know anything more?"

The former The Two Coreys star and teen idol Corey Haim was found dead from an apparent accidental drug overdose early Wednesday morning.  He was 38.

Haim was reportedly found unresponsive in an apartment he was sharing with his mother while she underwent treatment for cancer and taken to a hospital in Burbank where he was eventually pronounced dead.

Pinsky said he offered Haim help several times and even gave him his phone number, according to People, which added the Celebrity Rehab star suspects Haim was reckless, exceeding recommended dosages of prescription drugs or combining drugs in a dangerous manner.

"It's mostly that people don't really understand addiction and how pernicious and progressive it is," Pinsky told People.

"Abstinence is their only solution. If they want to return to a flourishing existence, they have to find their way to abstinence."

Haim's agent told People that he doesn't think the actor died of an overdose. An autopsy was reportedly conducted Thursday however no official cause of death has been determined yet.
