Ed Brown, a 54-year-old 4'11" professional photographer with a 29-year-old daughter Tiffany from San Diego, CA, thought he had found the love of his life in Rosemarie Vega, a 23-year-old single mom of four-year-old son Prince from the Philippines, whom Ed met on social media and calls Rose.
Ed confessed Rose was way out of his league and his "dream girl," but she wanted to be his girlfriend and hopefully have more children with him someday. Ed therefore called Rose his "queen," allegedly sent her gifts to the Philippines, and bought her an engagement ring.
Ed flew to the Philippines to meet Rose in person and take their relationship to the next level, but their time together was riddled with arguments and disappointment.
Ed didn't like how Rose tried to spend his money, and he questioned whether he was just her meal ticket out of her remote village in the Philippines, where she bathed in a bucket and slept on a mattress pad on the floor.
And Rose was offended and angry when Ed asked her to discuss her past and ex-boyfriends, take an STD test, shave her legs, and brush her teeth and use mouthwash due to bad breath. Rose vented Ed repeatedly embarrassed her, and Ed seemed to spend most of their time together apologizing.
Despite all the drama, Rose wanted to continue a relationship with Ed because she said she loved him -- until he dropped a bomb on her: "I've raised a daughter. She's 29 and it was a wonderful experience, but having more kids is not something you want. In fact, before I came to see you in the Philippines, I had scheduled two appointments to have an operation. It's called a vasectomy... It prevents me from getting you pregnant."
Rose blasted Ed for not telling her about the vasectomy sooner and she said she was tired of forgiving Ed and giving him second chances. She therefore ended their relationship before his return to the United States.
"I had the best chance at love, but I screwed it up. Right now, what I want more than anything, is to pick up my heart and move on. But there's a big part of me that still hopes Rose might talk to me again," Ed told the cameras.
While 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days was airing, Rose blasted Ed on Instagram Live, claiming he's "such a liar" and never loved her or bought her gifts.
"So please don't believe Ed. Always what he says is not true. He wants to be famous. That's all," Rose said.
"He [does] not love me. He [does] not care for me. He always embarrassed me, and I always [was] quiet. But I feel hurt right now. I want to say I feel hurt right now, so [he's] not caring [for] me. It's not true."
Sreenshots of Rose's alleged Facebook page circulated online in March and seemed to show that Rose got engaged to a Filipino woman.
Rose later denied that she got engaged to a woman, but she did admit on the Season 4 Tell-All reunion special she had dated a woman after leaving Ed.
Also during the reunion, Ed claimed Rose tried to get back together on February 9, 2020 and he had the texts to prove it, but Rose was still furious at Ed and lashed out at him every chance she got.
"He had a trap for me," Rose claimed, adding he had "offered me to go on a sex video call with him."
Rose further claimed Ed once called her and asked her to get naked for a video and he'd pay her to participate. Ed laughed and asked Rose how she even came up with these "ideas."
Ed insisted his love for Rose was real and sincere all along, but he accused her of "making up crap about him and lying "since Day 1" about her travels and how Rose had claimed she had no idea that her sister once asked Ed for money to save her store in the Philippines.
"I'm so, like, oh my God, God forbid I would've brought her to the U.S. Oh my God," Ed vented to reunion host Shaun Robinson.
"She would have left me. I know that in my heart. Knowing now what has transpired, I am convinced in my heart -- sorry -- that she wanted to come here, that she never really loved me. She never did."
But Rose argued, "That's not true."
Ed said he planned to "take a break [from dating]" but his relationship with Rose did not destroy him and he'd soon be ready to "get back into the game" and give love another chance.
In January 2021, discovery+ announced Ed would appear on the first season of 90 Day: The Single Life, a new spinoff which follows 90 Day Fiance alums as they resume dating following the failure of their prior 90 Day Fiance relationships.
90 Day: The Single Life's Season 1 finale had ended with Ed in a relationship with Liz Woods, a 20-something San Diego woman, and Ed telling the cameras he had already "picked out" an engagement ring for Liz and planned to propose "when it felt right."
However, when 90 Day: The Single Life's Season 1 Tell-All reunion was released on discovery+ in May 2021, Ed and Liz were completely estranged and Ed said he wasn't sure if Liz had moved on from their relationship.
"I don't know... if she's in another relationship or what. I treated Liz very well. I did the best I could, but she was taught to fight -- not to love and be affectionate," Ed told the cameras, adding that it was "just too soon" and the split was too fresh to reunite with her in-person.
Liz ultimately showed up to the Tell-All late, and when host Shaun Robinson asked Ed and Liz -- who sat far apart from each other on the stage -- what was going on between them, Ed admitted, "We broke up."
"We broke up a month ago today," Liz added.
Shaun noted The Single Life's first season had ended with Ed asking Liz to moving into his home and the couple planning to begin living together.
"Ed loves to rush our relationship," Liz revealed as her explanation for the breakup.
"When we finally became a couple, the next week I was meeting his daughter and then the next week I was meeting his sister and his brother. I was thrown in multiple situations I was not prepared for."
Liz admitted she thought Ed was going to be "The One" for her but he really disappointed her.
Ed owned up to moving the relationship way too fast, adding in tears, "Our relationship didn't have a chance, so everything she said is true."
However, Ed and Liz appeared to give each other another chance when they were shown reconciling during a filming break.
"So you really weren't with anybody? I mean you would have had a right," Ed asked Liz, who replied no.
"I was scared if you ever gave me another chance again, like, you would disown me for it," Liz said.
"I have to learn to trust you," Ed said.
"I love you," Liz said.
"I love you too," Ed replied.
After filming the Tell-All, Ed told Us that he "definitely" wanted to make his relationship with Liz work.
A few months later, reports that Ed and Liz were engaged surfaced. According to the reports, the couple got engaged on August 28, 2021.
In October 2021, discovery+ announced Ed would return for the second season of 90 Day: The Single Life.
Season 2 of 90 Day: The Single Life premiered on the streaming service in November 2021 and concluded in February 2022.
While The Single Life season followed Ed as he traveled to Mexico to explore a relationship with a Mexican woman a female friend of his had recommended, it ended with the woman ghosting Ed and Ed returning to San Diego still single.
However shortly after his return to California, Ed reconciled with Liz and the couple got engaged only a few days later.
Ed and Liz then appeared on Season 7 of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, which aired on TLC in 2022. The season showed Ed and Liz continuing to struggle in their relationship and Ed remaining hesitant to marry Liz despite their engagement.
