Whitney Port may be gaining some party girls as friends for The City's upcoming second season, however it was apparently at the expense of her first-season BFF.

Erin Lucas will not be returning for The Hills' spin-off's second season, her representative told Us Weekly Wednesday.

While Lucas did reportedly shoot some scenes for The City's second season, the NYU grad has decided to focus on her hosting career instead of the show.

"[Lucas] loved her hosting career and never meant to stray... until The City beckoned," her rep told Us.  "Nice while it -- and her friendship with Whitney Port -- lasted."

While there is presumably some truth that hosting was part of the reason behind Lucas' departure, sources confirmed to Us she also had a falling out with Port.

Lucas has previously hosted on mtvU, according to Us, which added she has already received new offers and is working on other projects.

"It never hurts to try something new, but when you're born to do something, chances are you're going to wind up doing it no matter where you detour," her rep told Us. "But it was hosting she loved, and it is to hosting she returns, blowing kisses to all as she departs the series for her hosting home turf."

Lucas is the second original The City cast member to leave the reality series recently, as Tamarama band singer Jay Lyon -- who dated Port during the show's first edition before the two called it quits -- stated in late May that he was walking away from the series to instead focus on music.

In June, it was reported that two "out of control vixens" named Samantha and Roxy would be joining The City's second-season cast to compensate for the absence of Olivia Palermo -- who will be part of the upcoming season but has a new job that will decrease the amount of partying she contributes.

MTV renewed The City for a second season earlier this year.
