Evelyn Lozada filed for divorce from new husband and fellow reality star Chad Johnson on Tuesday following this weekend's domestic violence incident in which Johnson was arrested for allegedly head-butting her.

The domestic violence incident allegedly occurred after Lozada found a receipt for condoms and confronted Johnson about it outside the recently-married couple's Florida home on Saturday evening.
Johnson was subsequently arrested and charged with simple domestic battery. He was released from jail on $2,500 bond on Sunday and has reportedly denied head-butting Lozada, claiming she head-butted him instead.
Lozada issued a media statement in which broke her silence about the incident and she challenged Johnson's claims earlier on Tuesday.
"It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday," the reality TV star said.
"I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I'm grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time."
Johnson subsequently released a statement of his own.
"I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred. I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death," he said.
"To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies. I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life."
On Monday, VH1 announced it was canceling Ev and Ocho, the couple's upcoming new reality series.
Ev and Ocho, a spinoff of the network's Basketball Wives reality series, was to chronicle the events leading up to last month's wedding of Lozada, who previously co-starred on Basketball Wives, and Johnson, an NFL football player. Johnson has also previously appeared on several reality series, including Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch and Dancing with the Stars.
Ev and Ocho had been scheduled to premiere Monday, September 3 on VH1.

On Monday, the Miami Dolphins -- whose NFL training camp is also being chronicled on the current season of HBO's Hard Knocks reality series -- released Johnson in response to the incident. Johnson's release will reportedly be addressed on Hard Knocks.
Lozada and Johnson -- who recently legally changed his name back from Chad Ochocinco -- began dating while Johnson's The Ultimate Catch reality dating show was still airing on VH1 in 2010, spoiling the fact that he hadn't found lasting love on the show.
The couple got engaged about a year later in November 2011 and wed on July 4.
