Former 'American Idol' finalist LaKisha Jones has a baby girl

It was apparently better late than never for Lakisha Jones.

The former American Idol sixth-season finalist and her husband Larry Davis have welcomed their first child together.

"Baby Ava LaRynn has been born !!" Jones announced in a Wednesday post on her Twitter account.  "She was late but so worth the wait."

Ava LaRynn -- who was due in August -- is Jones' second child, as she already has 6-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

"At home getting back into baby mode, it's been 6yrs," Jones added on her Twitter page.

Jones and Davis wed last October at the Beverly Wilkshire Hotel.  She subsequently confirmed in May that she was pregnant with her second child and first with Davis.

The 29-year-old Jones finished fourth during Idol's Spring 2007 sixth season.
