Joan Rivers is reportedly making positive progress.

"It's a slow process, but she's on the road to recovery," a source close to the situation told E! News. "She's getting better. Don't believe all this ridiculous speculation."

Reports have surfaced that Joan, who starred in the reality series Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best and competed against her daughter Melissa on The Celebrity Apprentice's second season in 2009, is on life-support and her family has a tough decision to make. The E! News source, however, is shooting down the idea that the comic and Fashion Police host will either end up in a wheelchair or a "vegetable."

"All these reports about doomsday are not true. She is her mother's daughter and she's tough as nails. She's the person keeping everyone together," said the source.

Joan, 81, reportedly remains in stable, yet critical, condition at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City after going into cardiac and respiratory arrest while undergoing a minor vocal cord surgery on August 28. It is unclear how long Joan went without breathing prior to being placed in a medically-induced coma.

Melissa, 46, flew from California to New York as soon as she heard Joan, who won The Celebrity Apprentice, had collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. She's been at her mother's side since the incident, according to the Daily News.

"She is a rock. She is calmer than I've ever seen her," the E! News source added in regards to Melissa. "She's focused on one thing: Her mother's health."
