John Legend says he'd been worried about his friend and fellow performer Kanye West.
"We were with Kim, actually, right before all that," Legend said. "I was concerned by what I saw, so hopefully he's getting some rest and some time to figure things out."
West was hospitalized for "exhaustion" on Monday in Los Angeles after cancelling the remainder of his Saint Pablo tour.
The 39-year-old rapper had ended a show early Saturday in Sacramento, Calif., after ranting about Beyonce and Jay Z.
"I'm not gonna speak out of turn and try to speak for him," Legend told "Entertainment Tonight" prior to news of West's hospitalization. "All I can see is what he said to the public, that he's tired and needs some rest.""I think he's been through a lot lately with what happened to Kim," he added, referencing Kardashian's recent robbery. "I think if he needs to rest, I think his fans will be patient and let him rest. He'll come back stronger, hopefully."
Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint Oct. 2 in Paris and has kept out of the spotlight since.
