Married at First Sight's Tristan Thompson appears distraught over wife Mia Bally's detainment in a preview of the next episode -- but the show's producers insists all necessary precautions were taken during casting, and viewers will have a front-row seat as drama unfolds between the couple "in real time."

"On this season of Married at First Sight, one of this season's participants, Mia, was detained at the airport by authorities as she was about to leave on her honeymoon with her new husband, Tristan," a MAFS representative told People in a statement.

"The warrant for Mia's arrest was filed after her background check had been cleared by production."

"Viewers will have the opportunity to watch their emotionally true story as it unfolds in real time throughout the season and learn whether or not the couple ultimately decides to stay married or get a divorce."

In the preview clip obtained by People for the upcoming Married at First Sight episode airing Tuesday night on Lifetime, an overwhelmed Tristan sits down with producer Eric Detwiler to talk about Mia's situation while he simultaneously chats with psychologist Dr. Jessica Griffin via Skype on his laptop.

"We haven't spoken to Mia. She's still in custody, and we don't have all the information. But in the meantime, we understand how overwhelming this must be for Tristan, and we want to support him in every way possible," Jessica tells the cameras.

Mia, 29, was taken away by authorities in a Texas airport when traveling with her new husband to Cancun, Mexico.

A felony warrant was issued on February 6 for Mia's arrest after her former boyfriend, Jared Evans, filed four separate complaints with authorities in Louisiana.

Jared alleged Mia had stalked him in the 13 months that followed their December 2016 breakup.

According to court documents, Jared also accused Mia of unauthorized use of one of his credit cards in which she allegedly racked up $1,455.18 worth of charges.

Tristan was apparently made privy to all of this information while waiting for Mia to return home from custody.

"I know that sh-t can get fabricated when it comes to exes and things like that nature," Tristan, 29, told Jessica and Eric in the Married at First Sight preview clip.

"I get it, but that doesn't stop the fact that I have to live with this sh-t right now. All of this is piling up, and now I'm sitting here not knowing who I just married."

Jessica is then shown telling the tutoring-club owner, "We thought you two were such an incredible match, and you're a strong man. And ultimately it's your decision to make because you are legally married."

Eric added, "So we are going to continue monitoring the situation, and wherever she is released from, we're going to be there. And if you want to be there with us, that's up to you."

In another sneak-peek clip that aired last week during Seven Year Switch, Eric insisted to Tristan, "We ran every background check possible. The warrant -- it was a shock to all of us... I think what's important about what's in here is that there are two sides to every story. We don't know Mia's story yet."
