Married at First Sight featured the season's four couples celebrating their one-month anniversaries and growing closer, but Elizabeth Bice and Jamie Thompson's date ended in a complete disaster during Wednesday night's broadcast on Lifetime.

Season 9 of Married at First Sight stars Elizabeth, a 30-year-old account executive for her dad's company from South Carolina who was raised in Mooresville, NC, and Jamie, a 35-year-old technical consultant from Columbia, SC, as well as Matthew Gwynne, a 32-year-old professional basketball player from Raleigh, NC, and Amber Bowles, a 27-year-old eighth grade English teacher currently living in the Charlotte area.

The season also stars Gregory Okotie, a 32-year-old math learning center owner from Fort Washington, MD, and Deonna McNeill, a 30-year-old operations manager currently living in the Charlotte area, as well as Iris Caldwell, a 27-year-old who works for a nonprofit from Raleigh, NC, and Keith Manley, a 27-year-old high school basketball coach from Greensboro, NC.

The couples had been paired by Married at First Sight experts Pastor Calvin Roberson, Dr. Pepper Schwartz and Dr. Viviana Coles.

Married at First Sight, Episode 9

Married at First Sight's Episode 9 broadcast began with the couples approaching the one-month mark. In just four weeks, they'd have to decide whether they want to stay married or get a divorce.

Jamie said life with Beth was "never boring," and cleaning and keeping things tidy was not high on her priority list. However, Jamie said Elizabeth had many redeeming qualities and it wasn't a big deal, as they could just hire a housekeeper.

Keith was then shown meeting with his best friend Eric. They hadn't seen each other since the wedding, so Keith was hoping to get some advice from him. Keith said he and Iris worked different hours and so they didn't have much time to enjoy each other's company.

Keith said Iris was doing most of the cooking, but when the topic of "things in the bedroom" came up, Keith admitted they were mutually in the process of "waiting" and they were trying to feel each other out.

Keith shocked his best friend by revealing Iris was a virgin when they married, so Keith was interested to find out how he and his wife would compromise over that.

Keith said intimacy in a relationship can make or break it, and Eric noted Keith had never gone so long without sex before.

Keith didn't want to take Iris' virginity and have their marriage not work out in the end, so he wanted to make sure they were in it forever before taking that huge step.

Pastor Cal then met with Greg and Deonna, who had a sense of closeness and great body language on the couch. Deonna shared she "really liked" Greg but she was not in love yet. However, Deonna said she was working towards that path.

Deonna figured Greg was already in love with her, but Pastor Cal noted Deonna seemed in love as well and was probably just afraid to say it out loud.

Deonna admitted she was fearful Greg wouldn't like who she is considering they had only been together for four weeks and he had yet to see every side of her.

Greg did not share Deonna's fears, and Pastor Cal said it was great for Deonna to be with a man who was "so in touch with his feelings."

Pastor Cal insisted Greg was not going to hurt her, and Deonna believed that wholeheartedly. Deonna found Greg sweet, kind, caring and candid.

Pastor Cal advised the couple to not let anything derail them on their path to finding love and happiness.

Meanwhile, Amber and Matt were finally on the same page. She wanted to show Matt how much she appreciated his effort, so she cooked him a nice, romantic dinner. In turn, Matt gave Amber purple tulips and dessert.

Amber wore a tight dress for their dinner, and Matt called her "gorgeous." He thought she definitely looked sexy in her outfit. They were both really happy, and Matt acknowledged his wife's happiness was his main concern.

Married at First Sight, Day 30

On Day 30 of marriage, Iris spent some time with her mother, who advised her daughter to "dive in" to her relationship and just make it work.

Iris, however, knew Keith was concerned about her virginity, and that really upset her. Iris didn't want her virginity to be an issue, especially since she thought most guys would be happy about her saving herself.

But Iris' mother said it was normal for Keith to feel that way and Iris shouldn't take Keith's concerns so seriously and personally. Iris didn't want Keith to feel nervous about advancing their relationship and hold back as a result.

Matt was then shown saying he was not used to being a committed, married man, but he wanted to do better for his wife.

He therefore wrote her a song on his guitar for their one-month anniversary to prove he cared for her a lot and wanted to make things work long-term.

Deonna and Greg then went on a bowling date, and Deonna shared she was super competitive and hated to lose.

The couple appeared to have a blast joking around with and teasing each other, and Greg was pleased because Deonna had really stepped up her PDA.

"It feels great to see Deonna so comfortable, and I'm excited we're definitely making progress... I got my kisses!" Greg gushed to the cameras.

On Day 31 of marriage, the couples celebrated their one-month wedding anniversaries.

Jamie left Elizabeth a pink rose and asked her to meet him at the place where they got married.

Once Elizabeth arrived, Jamie was waiting with a huge bouquet of yellow tulips for her. She thought the gesture was so sweet and creative, and Jamie was trying to show his wife he had a romantic side.

After knowing Elizabeth for a month, he wrote her new vows, saying they were great when things were good but he's strive to find a resolution and compromise when they fight.

Elizabeth felt "so loved" and couldn't believe Jamie had done that for her. He even planned her a dinner at their wedding venue, where they sat at a table surrounded by candles and red rose petals.

Jamie also gifted Elizabeth a heart necklace with a pink sapphire in it, and Elizabeth gave Jamie a book filled with ideas they could do together and all Jamie had to do was pull one out when he wanted to try something.

Elizabeth said Jamie was doing everything right and she couldn't get enough of him, and Jamie felt the same way that Elizabeth couldn't have done anything better to improve their marriage.

"It almost feels like two people have become one because we really vibe that well," Jamie explained, before surprising Elizabeth with a late-night picnic in which they were supposed to eat their wedding-cake topper.

But the couple's amazing date took a turn when they looked through their wedding album together.

Jamie was annoyed how Elizabeth seemed to only comment on her hair, lips, boobs and wedding dress.

"I'm sitting there, like, 'Do you even care about us being married and the fact we had our wedding here exactly a month ago or are you just focusing on hair and dress? I thought this day was about us and now it just seems to be about her," Jamie vented to the cameras.

Iris and Keith celebrate their anniversary

As for Iris and Keith, Keith planned a surprise for Iris as well, and the couple went horseback riding together. Keith then set up a romantic lunch spread at a table on the farm following their riding session.

Iris told Keith he had been kind to her and she really appreciated his patience and ability to be so open. Iris wanted to stay married, and she let Keith know she wanted their marriage to continue after the eight-week experiment.

Keith gave Iris a heart necklace for their anniversary that symbolized their growth and potential for love, and Iris gave him a set of special records because music means a lot to him.

Matt and Amber celebrate their anniversary

Meanwhile, Matt and Amber went out for a romantic dinner at a hotel with a nice view of the city. The couple both ordered chicken wings when they could've ordered fancy things, but Matt said that spoke volumes of who they are as people.

Matt shared with Amber she was such a cool girl and they had amazing chemistry from the beginning. Matt asked Amber if there was anything he could do better for her, and Amber said he needed to check in with her more to let her know she's alive.

Amber had fears Matt wouldn't return home at night, but Matt said it was going to take time to build their trust.

The pair capped off their date by watching their wedding on a big outdoor screen at the hotel and then Matt played the song he had written just for her. Amber thought the song about their marriage was "beautiful" and it made her cry.

"When I'm with Matt, it just feels good. It feels right," Amber said.

Deonna and Greg celebrate their anniversary

Deonna and Greg also went to a steakhouse for a romantic dinner to celebrate this milestone in their marriage. They tried something new together -- grilled octopus -- and Deonna was so glad Greg was willing to be adventurous for her.

Greg told Deonna that she had a beautiful soul and seemed to be "a giver," and Deonna liked his heart and how playful he could be, although she said it could be too much at times when it came to the bedroom.

Deonna said Greg was all she had asked the experts for and more but she was still trying to get more comfortable with their physical intimacy.

The pair later looked through their wedding album and relived some amazing moments that had been captured. Deonna felt God had led her to Greg and they were just in the beginning of their beautiful love story.

Deonna and Greg decided to eat the top of their wedding cake on their one-year anniversary on 3/21/20, saying their marriage was forever -- "not just an eight-week type of thing."

The night ended with Greg surprising Deonna with red rose petals all over their bed in the shape of a heart. He also had strawberries, champagne, roses and candles set up for her that led to a bubble bath. Deonna said Greg was everything she ever wanted wrapped up in one person.

"It's really nice to know all of the things I asked for, I'm actually getting. It makes my heart smile," Deonna told the cameras.

Elizabeth and Jamie fight and she tells him to leave

Elizabeth and Jamie's perfect day together ended in a disaster. Cameras caught Elizabeth yelling at Jamie to "go away," saying he was "acting crazy." Jamie could be heard venting about how Elizabeth didn't care about their wedding at all and only cared about her dress, shoes and hair.

"Is that what really matters?" Jamie asked her.

Elizabeth accused Jamie of being critical of her, but then Jamie countered by calling her "a materialistic c-nt."

"Who calls their wife that? I don't know," Elizabeth said in a confessional.

Elizabeth told Jamie to leave, and then he said if he left, their marriage would be over.

Elizabeth said she didn't care, and then Jamie left and yelled, "Bye, have a good life!"

Elizabeth woke up crying to the cameras, "Am I not allowed to say I looked beautiful on my wedding day?... I just don't feel good about myself. I don't think I'm good enough for anyone, and I just feel like I'm a problem with everything and this is why people don't want to be with me. Am I just too much?"

She added, "I just can't believe we went from such a beautiful night to ending a marriage in the same night. It's insane. I don't understand. I didn't do anything wrong to him, I just thought I looked beautiful and things came together really nicely. I just can't take it anymore."

Elizabeth seemed completely broken and didn't know how she and Jamie could move forward.

The episode concluded with Keith getting his wedding ring resized and gushing about how he was growing towards being in love with Iris, who was "genuine, compassionate and caring."
