Married at First Sight featured some big relationship breakthroughs during Tuesday night's broadcast as the three couples were approaching the end of their extreme experiment.

At the beginning of the season, Sam was not attracted to her husband at all and struggled to even hold his hand. But in last night's episode, it was clear Sam has come a long way.
When Neil was away for a wedding that Sam couldn't attend due to work, Sam realized she missed him. When they video chatted, Neil asked Sam if she missed him and she admitted yet. She missed his candor and laughing with him.
"I'm starting to have a crush on him," Sam told the cameras.
However, Neil confessed he didn't miss Sam in return because it takes "a lot" for him to feel that way. Sam was hurt, confused and disappointed. She vented about how she thought whole-heartedly he was going to say "yes" but he showed he didn't care "jacksh-t" about the experts' advice.
But Sam's reaction was a sign she really cared about Neil, and he took that to heart. Neil acknowledged Sam was starting to view him as more than a friend, and he apologized repeatedly for hurting her feelings and being insensitive. Neil insisted upsetting Sam was certainly not his intention.
As a way to make up for his mistake, Neil came home from his trip and showered Sam with little meaningful gifts. Neil brought her a huge bouquet of flowers as well as little souvenirs -- including a magnet, keychain, owl ring and an owl ring-holder.
Neil wanted to show his wife that he reciprocated her feelings and thought of her often while he was away, and Sam actually cried tears of joy and embraced him in what turned out to be a lengthy hug. Sam also kissed Neil on the cheek, which in comparison to the beginning stages of their relationship, was a huge gesture. Sam only saw their marriage getting stronger from that point on.
"I'm starting to really see him as my husband," Sam revealed. "Like immediately when I walked in, the first thing I wanted to do was go get my marriage certificate and change my last name. And I've never felt that way before."
Sam also did something very sweet for Neil. She blew up prints of their favorite wedding photos and set them up around the house. The couple also went fishing and Neil said he could feel the "togetherness."
Meanwhile, Ashley Doherty and David Norton were turning a page in their relationship. David returned from a trip to Buffalo and flat out apologized to Ashley for hurting her by previously contacting another girl to go out for drinks. David felt refreshed and ready to tackle his marriage again, and Ashley finally accepted David's genuine apology.
Ashley understood David was probably acting out because she showed him no affection and he felt unattractive and unwanted in her eyes.

Married at First Sight's experts then advised David and Ashley to get away together and have some fun. As a result, the couple went ziplining and participated in some adventurous activities. David felt closer to Ashley than ever and she even gave him a kiss on the cheek before he jumped off a platform for an adrenaline-pumping free fall.
As for Tres Russell and Vanessa Nelson's marriage, things were going incredibly. The couple talked about finding a new place to live and then Tres surprised Vanessa with a weekend getaway.
Tres still wanted Vanessa to trust him more, so he worked hard to gain it. He arranged for a car to pick Vanessa up at the house and take her to an undisclosed destination. It turned out Tres had planned a romantic dinner at a bed and breakfast and weekend at a winery. Vanessa was taken aback and admitted she was falling in love with her husband.
Likewise, Tres hoped for a long and happy marriage with Vanessa. Despite a couple bumps on their weekend away -- like Vanessa having to take care of Tres when he had an allergic reaction from a horseback ride -- the pair truly became a unit.
