Nick Viall and his fiancee Vanessa Grimaldi have called it quits on their relationship five months after their engagement aired on The Bachelor's Season 21 finale.

"We gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairytale ending we hoped for. We will continue to be there for each other no matter what. This hasn't been an easy decision, however, as we part ways, we do so with lots of love and admiration for each other."
Although Nick and Vanessa were apparently spending a lot of time together in Los Angeles in recent months, the couple was plagued by rumors they were headed for a split.
A source told Us Weekly in late June that the pair was fighting often, which didn't come as a big surprise to The Bachelor fans considering both individuals have similar personalities in that they are strong-willed, feisty and stubborn.
"It's not a solid relationship, and it won't last," the source insisted.
Nick, 36, and Vanessa, 29, got engaged on The Bachelor earlier this year despite apparent jealousy issues and arguing over which country they should permanently live in.
But Vanessa eventually decided to leave her job as a special education teacher, as well as her close-knit Italian family, to move to Los Angeles, where she supported Nick as he competed on Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars and then launched his new line of grooming products, The Polished Gent.
"Vanessa is no pushover. She's not going to just do whatever he wants," a second source told Us two months ago. "He's attracted to that, but it makes their relationship volatile."
Nick and Vanessa traveled to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to attend Carly Waddell and Evan Bass' wedding this summer, but a witness told the magazine that on their flight home to L.A. on June 18, "they looked miserable."
"They didn't exchange five words the entire flight. They were angled completely away from each other," the witness said, adding that Nick grabbed his bag upon landing and rushed out of the airplane ahead of Vanessa. "They really don't seem to like each other."
The last photo Vanessa shared with her now ex-fiance on Instagram was from August 15 in which she was feeding Nick, however, it was a paid endorsement. Nick's last photo of the couple was also for advertising purposes, and he posted it in late July.
The former software salesman revealed to Us that same month that wedding planning was still on hold.

"Nothing has changed," the Milwaukee native said of his nuptials with Vanessa. "I think it's always important to take things slow."
Nick and Vanessa's romance appeared rocky immediately after The Bachelor finale aired. During their appearance on After the Final Rose, fans speculated on social media that they looked "miserable" together.
"Vanessa and I have never really pretended, even since After the Final Rose, of trying to be that perfect couple," Nick said during an April appearance on Los Angeles' KTLA-TV newscast.
"We've been pretty up front of the challenges that kind of come with meeting in Bachelor world -- it's not the ideal experience. We've been pretty up front about having a lot of things to work on, and we're excited about doing that."
Before starring on The Bachelor, Nick competed on both Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe's back-to-back editions of The Bachelorette. The two-time runner-up then appeared on Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise last summer, when he sparked up a brief romance with Jennifer Saviano.
On The Bachelor's Season 21 finale, Nick selected Vanessa over his runner-up, Raven Gates, and proposed with a 3.75-carat Neil Lane engagement ring.
