Shaffer, 59, is to take the guest chair on Tuesday's edition of "Late Show." His appearance is to coincide with the release of his book, "We'll Be Here For the Rest of Our Lives: A Swingin' Show-Biz Saga."
The memoir chronicles the Grammy Award-winner's life story, including his childhood in Thunder Bay, Canada; his early music career; his years at "Saturday Night Live;" his other forays into film, television and music; and his 27 years working alongside Letterman on both "Late Night" and "Late Show," CBS said.
Eliza Dushku of the television series "Dollhouse" is also scheduled to be a guest Tuesday's show and KISS is slated to perform.
