Rising Star's fifth episode featured four head-to-head duels in which two artists competed against one another to remain on the show. In each duel, the first performer sang with the wall up and America voted "yes" or "no" via the Rising Star phone application for whether they'd like to see that person continue on. That singer received a final score to beat.

Afterward, the second person in each duel took the stage and sang a different song with the wall down. If that singer beat the first performer's score via America's vote, the wall would rise and that person would advance to the next round. A coin toss determined who would go first in each duel. The singer with the highest percentage of live votes in each duel would live to see another week.

Morgan Higgins, a 17-year-old from San Clemente, CA, sang "Edge of Glory" and racked in 45% of America's vote. She faced off against Maneepat Molloy, a 16-year-old from Los Angeles, CA, who sang "Gravity" and earned a 66% score. Maneepat therefore won the duel.

Shamela Crawford, a 30-year-old from Atlanta, GA, performed "Cry Me A River" and earned a 70% score. She went up against Unselfish, an all-male group between the ages of 22-25 from Atlanta, GA, who sang "Payphone." With a score of only 33%, Unselfish lost to Shamela.

The wall also rose for Audrey Kate Geiger, a 24-year-old from New York, NY, who performed second in her duel. She was dubbed victorious after receiving an 88% score for her "Make You Feel My Love" performance. Audrey beat out Dana Williams, a 25-year-old from Los Angeles, CA, for the win. Dana sang "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" and earned a score of 67%.

In the last duel of the night, Karen Hornsby, a 36-year-old from Jacksonville, FL, defeated Joshua Peavy, a 28-year-old from Soperton, GA. Karen sang "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" and received 67% of America's vote. Joshua performed a rendition of "Too Close" and received a higher score of 75%.

Rising Star host Josh Groban also revealed one of the four eliminated singers will still be able to advance in the competition thanks to the West Coast's voting totals.

Throughout the last three weeks of live duels, 20 artists total took the stage for a second time. Next week's Rising Star episode will feature the 13 remaining artists performing again and conclude with five contestants getting sent home.
