Sean Lowe and wife Catherine Giudici apparently never expected to end up on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars, which premieres Friday, December 4 at 9PM ET/PT on WE tv.

"Honestly, we didn't have a lot of big issues. We were surprised to be on the show," Lowe told toofab in a recent interview.

"We just have the belief that everyone can work on their relationship in one capacity or another, and we spoke to Ryan and Trista Sutter, who were on The Bachelor and Marriage Boot Camp, and they really sang the praises of the two counselors, [Jim and Elizabeth Carroll], that they kind of walk you through the program. They said it helped them, so we thought, 'Why not? If it's going to help us, let's give it a try.'"

Lowe, however, is wary of how he and Giudici might come across on the show thanks to one bad experience with reality TV.

"I do regret [Celebrity] Wife Swap," the former The Bachelor star confessed. "That whole show was all scripted and they kind of made me look like a jerk! I do regret doing that show."

Since he hasn't seen the finished product of Marriage Boot Camp yet, Lowe told toofab he "honestly doesn't know" if appearing on the show was for the best.

"I think we had a strong relationship going in. I think we still have a strong relationship and they did teach us some tools that have benefited us, but I think a lot of my answer depends on how we're going to be portrayed on this thing. Because if it's not good, then no, it probably wasn't the best move," he said with a chuckle.

Lowe also previously competed on The Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars.

When the couple first walked into the Marriage Boot Camp house, they were "completely" shocked about the dynamic of all the different relationships. Giudici joked her husband was "totally weirded out" by the fighting and screaming.

"As soon as we walked in, I was ready to go home, like, 'I cannot handle this,'" Lowe admitted before revealing he and Giudici actually grew close to some of the cast members over time. "We had this mentality of, 'Let's just stick around and see if we can offer support and maybe help these people.'"

Giudici apparently considered quitting for a brief time, but a lot of things ended up surprising her. For example, she thought Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson and June "Mama June" Shannon from Here Comes Honey Boo Boo were awesome people.

Since getting engaged on The Bachelor and having a televised wedding afterward, Giudici explained being on TV is "their normal" because they've "never known anything different." However, they both believe Marriage Boot Camp is probably the last show through which they'll open up their lives to viewers.

"We just love being with each other. And normally, we're shown in a good light. We're shown as we are -- which is fun, playful, silly... So we'll see what happens. I think, right now, we're happy living that life, just us knowing it," Giudici said.
