Survivor: Worlds Apart switched up the tribes and eliminated Max Dawson during the second half of the special two-hour episode of the CBS reality competition's 30th season on Wednesday night.

"Dreamer's [got] the boot. That's a little uncomfy. I think the 14 days I spent out here only deepened my love and appreciation for this game. Most of all, it deepened my appreciation for how difficult it is to play it. I'm truly humbled, I'm awed and I'm thrilled that I got to live out my dream of playing Survivor," Max said following his ouster.
At this point in the game, the Blue Collar tribe featured Kelly Remington, a 44-year-old state trooper from Grand Island, NY; Sierra Dawn Thomas, a 27-year-old barrel racer from Roy, UT; Mike Holloway, a 38-year-old oil driller from North Richland Hills, TX; Dan Foley, a 47-year-old postal worker from Gorham, ME; and Rodney Lavoie Jr., a 24-year-old general contractor from Boston, MA.
On Night 11 after Lindsey Cascaddan went home, Sierra demanded answers. Mike revealed that in case she had an idol and played it, splitting the votes and writing Sierra's name down was the only way to keep his own foursome safe and secure. That clearly put Sierra on the outside of this tribe.
Mike believed Tribal Council had gone just as planned, and then Dan noted it was important to reunite the tribe. However, he started pointing out things Sierra had done wrong so far in the game, and she was offended and hurt. While he ended the conversation saying she was an asset to their tribe, Sierra wasn't buying it.
Instead of buttering her up, Rodney also told Sierra he didn't feel bad for her because she had written his name down at Tribal. Sierra realized right then and there his tribemates absolutely couldn't be trusted.
The No Collar "Nagarote" tribe was comprised of Jenn Brown, a 22-year-old sailing instructor from Long Beach, CA; Hali Ford, a 25-year-old law student from San Francisco, CA; Joe Anglim, a 25-year-old jewelry designer from Scottsdale, AZ; and Will Sims II, a 41-year-old YouTube sensation from Sherman Oaks, CA.
The White Collar "Masaya" tribe was made up of Max; Tyler Fredrickson, a 33-year-old ex-talent agent assistant from Los Angeles, CA; Carolyn Rivera, a 52-year-old corporate executive from Tampa, FL; Shirin Oskooi, a 31-year-old Yahoo executive from San Francisco, CA; and Joaquin Souberbielle, a 27-year-old marketing director from Valley Stream, NY.
On Day 12, the three tribes met Jeff Probst for what they assumed would be a Reward Challenge. However, the host revealed they'd be switching tribes -- creating a blue-buff wearing Escameca tribe and a red-buff wearing Nagarote tribe.
Sierra was excited the game was about to change because she said her former Blue Collar tribe was "dead" to her. Everyone then dropped their buffs and drew new ones at random.
But it wasn't Sierra's lucky day. She ended up on Escameca with Dan, Mike and Rodney. She also had former White Collars Joaquin and Tyler to work with as well as Joe from the No Collar tribe. They looked very physically strong.
The Nagarote tribe had three No Collars on it -- Hali, Jenn and Will -- as well as former White Collar's Max, Carolyn and Shirin and former Blue Collar member Kelly. Kelly was scared because she was alone in the middle of two threesomes.

The Reward Challenge then began. Each tribe launched balls out on the beach and two tribe members at a time had to try to catch them. If a player caught a ball, they'd score one point. The first tribe to five points would win Reward in the form of kitchen supplies -- pots, pans, utensils, oils, spices and a plate of sausage.
In addition, any rewards won by the former White Collar tribe would become a part of the winning tribe's Reward package since no one would be going back to that beach. In the end, Escameca won.
Carolyn asked the cameras if the "Survivor gods" were trying to kill her because she, once again, got stuck on a tribe with Max and Shirin.
At Nagarote's camp post challenge, each side really wanted Kelly since there were two power trios. Kelly, an undercover cop, started building trust right away and quickly realized she was in a good position as the potential swing vote. Kelly told Shirin she'd work with her but it wasn't set in stone.
Over at Escameca's new camp, the majority of the tribe was former Blue Collars, so Mike was thrilled but concerned about whether Sierra would stick with them. He worried the three other guys might try to "woo her in." Mike didn't want Sierra to get close to anyone.
However, Sierra was left alone with Joaquin, Tyler and Joe at one point. She told the guys she had absolutely no attachment to the Blue Collars because they "sucked," and Tyler was excited to grab "the broken people" for his own alliance. The guys took her right in, and Mike became nervous once he saw them all chatting.
Meanwhile, Jenn didn't like Shirin because she talked too much and shared too much information about her life. Max also got stung by a stingray twice on his feet, and while Jenn helped him by sticking his feet in a pot of boiling water, Hali thought it was gross and unsanitary. They used that pot for their drinking water and Max had a wart on the bottom of his foot.
Max and Shirin were also annoying Carolyn and Will, and Caroline wanted to blindside them.

The two tribes then met Jeff again for the season's next Immunity Challenge.
Jeff instructed two members from each tribe to place pots on a sled and drag it through a series of obstacles. Once they reached the finish, they had to place the pots on stands and then head back. Once the pots were in place, another tribe member had to use a wrecking ball to smash the pots. The first tribe to complete the challenge would win immunity and be safe from the vote.
In the end, Escameca won immunity and it really wasn't even close. But Max was happy to lose because he wanted to change the dynamic around camp. He wanted to get on with the game and looked forward to blindsiding people.
The vote came down Max or Shirin for Jenn's alliance. Jenn and Hali didn't know whether they liked Max or Shirin less. The girls wanted Kelly to come with them, along with Will. Hali suggested getting rid of Max and then bringing Shirin in with them.
Meanwhile, Max was talking to Shirin and Kelly about blindsiding Will. Shirin just thought Will brought them down in challenges, and she thought she was in the power seat. She took pride in having orchestrated the entire plan. Max and Shirin also believed Carolyn was 100% with them, however, she wanted to join the No Collars.
Carolyn told Jenn she wasn't with the White Collars and so if they needed her she was 100% in. Jenn was shocked about the betrayal but also very relieved. No one could stand the White Collars apparently. So while Shirin thought Will was definitely going home, a five-person alliance was gunning to get her or Max out.
Jenn expressed to the cameras that the decision came down to which player was more annoying. Max was useful in challenges, but both he and Shirin apparently talked too much. Will hated how the pair never stopped strategizing together.
On Night 14 at Tribal, it became clear their Nagarote tribe was outmatched physically and they had little hope to win future Immunity Challenges. Max and Shirin knew they could be obsessive and analytical at times, so they just hoped everyone could deal with their "Type A" personalities.
Hali told Jeff her alliance was going to make a "quality of life" vote.
Jeff then revealed the votes. Two people voted for Will -- obviously Shirin and Max -- while the rest of the castaways voted to oust Max from Survivor. Shirin seemed absolutely shocked by her tribe's decision.
