"We gave it our all till the very end. Even though we didn't win the million, I still feel like a very very rich man. I really did get the greatest prize of all -- I'm getting to come out of this engaged to a wonderful wonderful woman," Chad said following his team's ouster.
"You're going to make me cry," Stephanie told Chad.
The Amazing Race's ninth seventeenth-season episode began with the Race's five remaining teams leaving the course's eighth Pit Stop in Muscat, Oman.
Since they had been the team to finish in first place at the Pit Stop in Muscat, Oman, Chad and Stephanie were the first team to depart at 11:10AM.
They were then followed by "Dating Couple" Jill Haney and Thomas Wolfard at 11:27AM, "Dating Couple" Nick DeCarlo and Vicki Casciola at 12:57PM, "Home Shopping Hosts" Brook Roberts and Claire Champlin at 1:36PM, and "Doctors/Friends" Nat Strand and Kat Chang at 3:37PM.
Upon opening their departure clues, the teams were instructed to fly 2,000 miles from Muscat to Dhaka, Bangladesh where they would have to make their way to Sundarban Square Supermarket and find a sugar cane press. Once there, the teams were required to fill a large mug with sugar cane juice and have a team member drink it for them to receive their next clue.
Despite their scattered Pit Stop departure times, the teams had an opportunity to catch up with each other at the airport, where they were told that the earliest available flight would get them into Dhaka at noon. However, after asking repeatedly, Jill and Thomas were able to get tickets on an earlier flight that would arrive at 5:00AM -- seven hours earlier than everyone else.
In addition, Nick and Vicki managed to snag two seats another flight that would land in Dhaka at 8:40AM minutes before Brook and Claire also tried to book the same tickets. Brook and Claire and Chad and Stephanie were then forced to travel on the noon-arriving flight.
Meanwhile, Nat and Kat took a series of flights on their own in attempt to arrive earlier than the rest of the teams, but they arrived at noon -- the same time the last flight arrived with Brook and Claire and Chad and Stephanie.
Jill and Thomas were the first team to arrive at the sugar cane press and were followed by Nick and Vicki. Chad and Stephanie, Nat and Kat and Brook and Claire appeared deadlocked when they arrived at the Sundarban Square Supermarket and attempted to complete the task.
Thomas opted to drink the sugar cane juice and was later joined by Nick, Chad, Kat, and Brooke.

Jill and Thomas were the first team to complete the task and receive their next clue and were followed by Nick and Vicki, Chad and Stephanie, Nat and Kat, and Brook and Claire.
The teams learned it was time for them to complete one of two Detour tasks: "Balanced Meal" or "Balanced Bricks."
"Balanced Meal" required the teams to deliver interlocking metal containers full of a midday snack known as tiffin by traveling across the harbor to a nearby cargo ship, where they were instructed to hoist 30 containers up to the deck. Once the snacks were safely delivered, they would then have to return to the shore with 10 empty containers in order to receive their next clue.
"Balanced Bricks" required the teams to transport heavy bricks on their heads from a supply barge to a nearby shop, and once they delivered 100 unbroken bricks, the shop manager would then give them their next clue.
Jill and Thomas were the first team to arrive at the Detour and were followed by Nick and Vicki, Nat and Kat, Brook and Claire, and Chad and Stephanie.
Chad and Stephanie took their Rickshaw in the opposite direction and became lost in the congested city, resulting in their drop to last place.
Jill and Thomas opted to do "Balanced Bricks" at the Buriganga River, while Nick and Vicki, Nat and Kat, Brook and Claire, and Chad and Stephanie all chose to do "Balanced Meal."

However, for the first time in The Amazing Race's history, the Double U-Turn was introduced, allowing two teams to pick another team to complete an extra task, potentially incurring a major shift in the standings of the Race.
Jill and Thomas were the first team to find the Double U-Turn and receive their next clue. They chose Brook and Claire to complete the other Detour task. Nick and Vicki were the next team to arrive at the Double U-Turn and considered using it on Chad and Stephanie but ultimately decided not to given they were already well behind them.
Nat and Kat found the Double U-Turn next and chose to use it to force Chad and Stephanie -- the only team left behind them that were not already chosen -- to complete the other Detour task.
Once Brook and Claire arrived at the Double U-Turn, they discovered their team was selected to go back and complete "Balanced Bricks." Chad and Stephanie later learned they were also required to go back and do the same.
Meanwhile, the teams who were safe from the Double U-Turn received their next clue, which instructed them to take a bicycle to Nazira Bazaar and retrieve the teams' next set of clues, which required one member of each team to complete a Roadblock task.
Jill and Thomas were the first team to arrive at the Roadblock and were followed by Nick and Vicki, Nat and Kat, Brook and Claire, and Chad and Stephanie.
For the Roadblock, one member of each team had to enter a mechanic shop and assemble a rickshaw using the parts provided, and when the rickshaw maker was satisfied with their work, he would then give them their next clue.
Jill opted to do the Roadblock for her team, and she was later followed by Nick, Nat, Brook, and Stephanie.
Meanwhile, Chad, frustrated that Nat and Kat chose his team at the Double U-Turn, decided to take some harmless revenge on the doctors by giving them a hard time.
"Nat you should get this easy. How's that PhD helping you? Big smart doctor can't put a bicycle together," Chad teased.
Nat responded that the U-Turn wasn't personal, explaining that Chad and Stephanie were the only eligible team behind them.
Most of the team members were able to assemble the rickshaw fairly quickly. Jill and Thomas still remained in first place after they were the first team to complete the Roadblock task. They were then followed by Nick and Vicki, Nat and Kat, Brook and Claire, and Chad and Stephanie.

Jill and Thomas were the first team to find The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan at the fort, where he revealed that the team won a $15,000 Discover gift card.
Nick and Vicki were the next team to arrive at the Pit Stop, followed by Nat and Kat who secured third place.
It was then a battle for fourth place, as Brook and Claire and Chad and Stephanie were racing to the palace fortress. Brook and Claire saw Chad and Stephanie running behind them, which gave them high hopes of possibly avoiding elimination and not arriving last.
Brook and Claire ended up arriving at the Pit Stop in fourth place with Chad and Stephanie behind them in fifth and last place.
Phil then confirmed Chad and Stephanie's elimination.
"Chad and Stephanie, you are the last team to arrive. I'm sorry to tell you that you have been eliminated from the Race," Phil said.
"Did that U-Turn come as a surprise to you?"
"I mean I knew if we were the last ones there that there was going to be a U-Turn, and Nat and Kat beat us to it, so touche to them," Chad replied.
