The Bachelor host Chris Harrison has explained the premise of The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart basically eliminates the idea of a contestant being on the show for the right reasons.

Chris explained contestants who signed up for The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart are looking for both love and to boost their music careers in the entertainment industry; however, he hoped love was their priority, according to Entertainment Tonight.
"It was about their music, but it's also about love. And you have to be there to find both. And you'll see on the show, those that are trying to fake it and are just hoping people won't see it, you do," Chris explained.
"It's not about [being on the show for the wrong reasons] because it is about that."
Chris said it's about finding fame and success as well as potential lifelong partners.
However, producers still apparently worked to weed out the people who were solely using The Bachelor spinoff to jumpstart their music careers.
"That is something we always fight on this show, and we were really adamant, as producers, 'This has to be about relationships, about love.' And as producers, we were able to tailor the show and create a show that really drove that," Chris revealed.
"And yeah, there will be musical performances and there will be people voted off and it has to do with their performances, but it has just as much to do with their chemistry and their relationships."
Chris told ET that from the get-go, producers searched for singers who genuinely want to find their match.

"Actually, straight up from the beginning, I said, 'You're here for love, music will come,' and that is a very important distinction," Chris revealed.

"'You're here because everybody's really looking for love. You're at a place in your life that you're open to this, but you want to make it in the music industry.' These people are from a crazy wide spectrum. There's, you know, religious choir singers, there's Broadway musical performers... and these people are kind of blending together."
Chris said producers chose to focus on blossoming romances early on to drive home the point this show is more about romance than anything else.
"It is about finding all of it, and as you will learn as you watch the show, at first we really lean into the relationships. That's [what we learn from] Bachelor in Paradise, Bachelor, Bachelorette -- it has always got to be steeped in romance, love and relationships," Chris said.
"Out of that, things can be born, great things can be born, and Listen to Your Heart is no different. When we lean into the relationships, it was incredible to see how the music was made, and one begets the other. You gotta have them both."
And Chris teased there "of course" could be an engagement -- or "multiple" -- since the goal was for couples to fall in love.

"There's always the hope and the promise of love, and if love is strong enough, it would be a proposal," Chris shared. "Some, maybe multiple couples, would ride off into the sunset. I mean, it's happened in Paradise."
"The ultimate dream of the show is that at the end of the day, we have one superstar couple that is the Listen to Your Heart champion couple, and they are deeply, madly in love," he added.

"Look, I don't have to preach to the choir here, but that moment at the Oscars when Bradley and Lady Gaga were performing together, and we all thought they could literally fall on the stage and make a baby right at that moment, that is what we're trying to create," Chris said.
"That's what Listen to Your Heart is -- can you create that chemistry?"
Unlike Bachelor in Paradise, Listen to Your Heart will feature a brand new batch of people who aren't familiar to viewers at home, but Chris asks fans not to view that as a negative.
"The scariest thing about reality TV is having all new characters that you have to be introduced to," Chris admitted.
"It takes patience from you, Bachelor Nation, that you have to sit there and go, 'Okay, who is Jamie, who's Ruby, who's Chris, who's Matt, who's Trevor?' But I think it makes it fresh and it makes it exciting. You have to take time to meet these people."
"It makes these relationships -- there are very strong relationships, super organic," he promised. "You see them in the incubation period and you see the awkwardness. It's fun and it's uncomfortable as heck."
Celebrity judges and fan-favorite couples from The Bachelor franchise will make appearances throughout the course of the six-episode season.
