"After careful consideration of several countries around the globe, the 2018 Winter Games have been awarded to the great state of Vermont!!!" Mike tweeted.

Mike teased earlier that day on August 21 that he would be making a "historic announcement."

ABC announced in May it had ordered The Bachelor Winter Games to air as part of the network's 2017-2018 programming.

The Bachelor Winter Games will feature "America's favorite" The Bachelor and The Bachelorette participants from seasons past competing in winter-themed athletic challenges all the while looking for love at a luxurious winter resort.

The Bachelor Winter Games is slated to debut in February 2018 and serve as counter-programming to NBC's television coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

ABC revealed during a conference call with reporters in May that the former reality dating show contestants appearing on the new spinoff will include "arch rivals" and "villains," according to Entertainment Weekly.

The Winter Games spinoff is being produced by The Bachelor's Next Entertainment production company in association with Warner Horizon Unscripted Television. In addition to Mike, the spinoff's other executive producer is Martin Hilton.

The Bachelor's 21st season wrapped in March with Nick Viall proposing to his now-fiancee Vanessa Grimaldi.

The Bachelorette's thirteenth edition starring Rachel Lindsay concluded earlier this month, with the Dallas attorney getting engaged to Bryan Abasolo.

Bachelor in Paradise's fourth season is currently airing on ABC, as the series just premiered on August 14.
