Audrina Patridge may be forced to vacate the guest house on Lauren Conrad's property, but not because of any feud between The Hills starlets.

The City of Los Angeles' Department of Building and Safety is currently investigating whether or not the guest house inhabited by Patridge on Conrad's property is an illegal residence, Access Hollywood reported Tuesday.

According to the Multiple Listing Service, the house on Conrad's property -- which is zoned as a Single Family residence in the Department of Building and Safety's Building Permit and Clearance Handbook -- is only permitted for one dwelling, Access Hollywood Reported.

For a second dwelling to be permitted on the property it must meet nine different standards outlined in the Building Permit and Clearance Handbook.

MTV declined comment on the investigation and Conrad's spokesperson did not reply to requests for comment, Access Hollywood reported.

Conrad currently shares the house on her property with friend Lauren "Lo" Bosworth, while Patridge moved into the guest house several weeks ago -- and since then it has been quite the point of contention.

Patridge claimed that Conrad was "very, very, very mad" at her last month when Conrad returned to the house to find Patridge participating in an exclusive OK! Weekly photo shoot and interview in the guest house.

Rumors that Patridge was vacating the guest house then began to swirl last Friday after a moving truck was spotted on their block and two girls were heard screaming, prompting a visit from police.

Both Patridge and Conrad subsequently denied the rumors, with Conrad claiming a couch was being moved via the truck and the screaming girls were the result of a stylist pulling into a neighbor's driveway.

Conrad's dwelling was also the target of shouted profanity and loud honking on early Sunday morning, a source told Access Hollywood, claiming that several cars filled with girls and guys parked outside the house three separate times within an hour.

The Hills' fourth season is currently filming and is slated to debut in August.
