According to TV Land, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will help the network continue its attempts to draw Baby Boomer viewers, its target demographic.
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is the perfect complement to TV Land's strategy of superserving Baby Boomers, the first generation to grow up alongside television," said TV Land president Larry W. Jones. "The show's central theme of giving back to society is a quality Boomers appreciate and the fact that each episode comes complete with a happy ending is a device the TV Generation has come to expect from TV viewing."
In addition to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, TV Land had previously announced several other series or pilots in development that are geared towards Baby Boomers, including 35 and Beyond Super Model Search, a new America's Next Top Model-like reality series that will hunt for runway wannabes who are older than those normally featured on television and in magazines; High School Reunion, a reality series that will reunite more than a dozen alumni from a 1986 high-school class to see if the superlatives bestowed upon them 20 years ago still hold true; as well as TV Land Confidential, Back to the Grind, Celebrity Love Cruise, Family Foreman, The Story Of..., and The Big 4-0.
