The Bachelor star Chris Soules selected Whitney Bischoff as his final bachelorette and proposed to her during Monday night's finale of the ABC reality dating show's nineteenth season.

Chris, a 33-year-old farmer from Arlington, IA, chose Whitney, a 29-year-old fertility nurse from Chicago, IL, at the end of his very difficult journey on the show.

Chris was serious about finding a wife from the start, and when runner-up Becca Tilley, a 25-year-old chiropractic assistant from San Diego, CA, continued to voice hesitation about potentially raising a family and moving to Arlington, Chris decided Whitney was the better choice for him.

During a Tuesday conference call with reporters, Chris and Whitney talked about their experience on the show and engagement. Below is a portion of their interview. Click here to read the first part and check back with Reality TV World soon for more.

A lot of The Bachelor couples have split at some point. What do you think makes your relationship different? Why do you think you guys will last?

Chris Soules: I think both of us went into this focused on our personal relationship and we're not really worried about the history of The Bachelor and what that may entail.

I think, you know, I didn't try to watch up on how other people handled the situation. I think that's still the same today, and I think, you know, we're both really excited about the relationship we have and I think we're both confident that it will work.

Whitney Bischoff: Yeah, I think the main thing is to stay focused on what's important, and that's Chris and I. And I think we've done a really good job of trying to block out all the noise that kind of comes with this. I think that's only going to help us in the long run.

How have you been able to make it work so far since you haven't been able to date out in the open?

Whitney Bischoff: That's definitely been the hardest part, but being in Chicago, it's only four hours away from Arlington. And so, that's made things easier.

Former The Bachelor and The Bachelorette alum have come out saying they're upset about the new twist in which there will be two Bachelorettes. Were you surprised by the announcement? Do you think one girl would make a better Bachelorette than the other?

Chris Soules: I can say I was somewhat surprised that they decided to go that route, but you know, it's hard enough to be the Bachelor or the Bachelorette let alone going into something where you're, once again, kind of competing with another woman for -- now they're competing to a certain extent against each other just to be the Bachelorette.

That's a tough position to be in, which I don't envy. I can just wish the best for both of them and we'll see how it goes. It will be fun to watch. I'm glad it's not me!

Whitney Bischoff: Yeah, we don't envy them for sure.

What have you learned about each other while being out in the real world and away from the confines of the show?

Chris Soules: I don't know. I feel like we got to know each other really well during the show, and something about Whitney that has impressed me is that nothing has changed from what I learned on the show to what reality is.

There are certain things you kind of question as the Bachelor, like, "Are these girls really here for me? Are they who they say they are? Are they putting on an act? Are they here to be the next Bachelorette?"

So you do question those things, and that's probably been the thing I'm most thankful for, is that with Whitney, what you see is what you get. And I'm continually impressed.

Whitney Bischoff: I kind of go along with exactly what he said. There's no -- I mean, there are some little things that are kind of fun, like the fact that he can fall asleep anywhere and he's a hard, hard sleeper. There are just funny things like that. Nothing that is alarming or something where I'm thinking, "Oh man, you know, I wish I would've known that when we were filming because maybe I would've felt differently."

Are your families excited about the wedding plans?

Chris Soules: I think our families are just excited for us to be able to be normal human beings who are in love and can be in the public and be able to spend time with our families. I'm excited to spend time with her family and I'm excited to bring her back to spend time with my family and do normal things that families do together. I think that's what everybody is really excited for. I know that goes for my family for sure.

Whitney Bischoff: Yeah, and you know, speaking for mine, I think they just are excited for this to be -- for them to see Chris and I together outside of the cameras and to really just see us be happy.

Whitney, how did you deal with the fact you had become friends with girls who Chris was dating?

Whitney Bischoff: For me, I think that I just tried to stay focused on what I was there for and my relationship particularly with Chris. I try to just block out everything else around me.

Chris Soules: That was probably one of the toughest things throughout the entire journey. I went into it with the mindset that I was going to give each and every one of the girls -- each and every one of those relationships -- 110% of my focus when I was in that relationship.

So, I think that's something I had to mentally just do and focus on that and make it part of who I was during that period of time. And I was successful in that, I feel like.

That's why I think I fell in love with multiple women, you know -- or I was falling in love with multiple women at that point. Everybody watched me struggle with these decisions and everyone asked me, "How can you fall in love with multiple women?"

I think it's because if you really do put your effort into that individual relationship, when you're with that person, you focus on that and nothing else. If you try to block out the fact that you are dating other women, then that's how you can get there.

So I was able to do that and I did it with the thought process of finding my wife and knowing that that's what I was looking for. I was looking for those qualities that I wanted to have in my life for the remainder of my life.

Did you have any doubt Chris was going to propose to you?

Whitney Bischoff: Yeah, I think I was just trying to stay grounded and, like I said, I was just trying to be realistic. And the truth of the matter was, there was another great woman involved. And so, I was confident in my relationship with Chris, but I also wasn't there to know what he had with Becca. So, you know, it was out of my control at that point. But yeah, there was definitely some uncertainty.

What brought you to Chicago originally and how do you think living on a farm in Iowa will compare to that?

Whitney Bischoff: So, I moved to Chicago about six years ago because my sister at the time was living there and I wanted to be closer to family. So, that was the original decision. And the second part of that question is, I think it's going to be an adjustment and it's going to be a change, but I think I'm up for it and that I'm excited about.

Are you going to continue working at the company you're with now when you move to Arlington?

Whitney Bischoff: So, I am going to continue to work. I've worked really hard to get to where I am and my career is something that is very important to me and something I'm passionate about, and so, work has given me the ability -- and I kind of changed roles a little bit within the same company to where it's afforded me the flexibility to work from anywhere.

Will there also be roles for you on the farm, Whitney?

Whitney Bischoff: I hope so! I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty, and I think it's something that such a passion for Chris and something I want to make a part of my life as well.

Chris Soules: Yeah, I'm really excited to have her be a part of what I'm doing and what my family does. It's something that's exciting. That's why I love and am so passionate about what I do -- not because I love agriculture but because it's a family business and my mom's involved and my dad's involved and now there's a cousin involved.

It's one of those things that's really exciting to be a part of. And to be able to have her bring her talents and whatever she can bring to the table is exciting, and she's a very talented, driven person that I'm certain there's things she can bring to the operation that would be exciting and help us get better.

What's the first thing you'd like to do when the cameras go away and the interviews stop? Will you go to a restaurant or do something specific to unwind?

Chris Soules: Well, my first goal is to go to the American Sniper movie because I've been waiting to go to that because I've been alone and haven't had anyone to go with when it came out. So, I'm excited to take Whitney along with me to that movie and I will take her to dinner as a "thank you" for watching it.

Whitney Bischoff: We're going to be in LA and I'm not really familiar with good restaurants so I'm open to suggestions! I need some place good. (Laughs)

Chris Soules: We'll figure it out.
