90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days featured David Murphey getting stood up by Lana in her hometown, Stephanie Matto nearly giving up on her relationship with Erika Owens, Ash Naeck revealing to Avery Warner that he considered himself single, and Geoffrey Paschel losing the support of Varya Malina's family during Sunday night's Season 4 episode on TLC.

Like 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days' first three seasons, the fourth season follows Americans who started online romantic relationships with overseas partners as they travel overseas hoping to get engaged to someone they've never met in person and then begin the K-1 Visa immigration process.

Along the way, they'll encounter challenges that include large age gaps, language barriers, cultural issues, and questionable pasts.

The couples who appeared on Episode 9 of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days' fourth season were David, a 60-year-old from Las Vegas, NV; Avery, a 32-year-old from Seattle, WA, and Ash, a 38-year-old from Melbourne, Australia; Stephanie, a 29-year-old from Yonkers, NY, and Erika, a 24 year-old from Port Augusta, Australia; Geoffrey, a 41-year-old from Knoxville, TN, and Varya, a 30-year-old from Ryazan, Russia; Yolanda, a 51-year-old from Las Vegas, NV; Lisa Hamme, a 52-year-old from York, PA, and Usman "SojaBoy" Umar, a 30-year-old from Kaduna, Nigeria; and Darcey Silva, a 45-year-old from Middletown, CT, and Tom Brooks, a 39-year-old from Nottingham, United Kingdom.

Ed Brown, a 54-year-old San Diego, CA, and Rosemarie Vega, a 23-year-old from Caloocan, Philippines; did not appear in the episode. And viewers have yet to discover whether Yolanda's boyfriend Williams, a 40-year-old from England, and David's girlfriend Lana, a 27-year-old from Ukraine, actually exist.

Below is what was shown on the latest episode of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days.

GEOFFREY AND VARYA

Geoffrey had finally come clean to Varya about being an ex-convict. Geoffrey had taken advantage of an opportunity to make easy money when he was younger, but he spent 30 months in federal prison for his crime.

Varya was upset and had asked for some space, but she was willing to meet up with Geoffrey after spending one night apart to collect her thoughts.

Geoffrey hoped Varya would forgive her for keeping such a secret for so long, and he admitted she had every right to be upset. Geoffrey apologized for not telling her earlier, but he said he wasn't proud of his past and wanted to wait until they got close to share it.

Varya said she had always tried to be No. 1 in her education and career and so she was worried Geoffrey's criminal past would affect or taint their future together. Geoffrey insisted he was a new man and obtained his graduate degree and was living a successful life.

"I'm looking for the person I want to be with forever, and all I know is that I want to be with you," Geoffrey told Varya.

Varya said she doesn't typically believe that people change, but she could tell Geoffrey had realized his mistakes, grown as a person, and was a kind man. She was therefore willing to forgive him and move on.

Varya, however, asked Geoffrey to share this bad news with her mother Larissa. Geoffrey agreed to be open and honest with Varya's mother, and she appreciated that, saying it would show his true intentions and character.

"Be ready for everything," Varya warned her boyfriend.

Geoffrey then met Varya's brother Sergey, and he was expected to tell both Sergey and Larissa about his criminal past.

Geoffrey was the first man whom Varya introduced to her brother, and Varya was concerned her family wouldn't approve of her boyfriend after learning about his "horrible" and "awful" actions in the past.

Geoffrey told Varya's family he had gotten mixed up with a bad crowd when he was younger and sold drugs and went to prison -- but that he was totally ashamed.

"To hell with this fairytale. I had a feeling something wasn't right... This is exactly what I was afraid of," Larissa told Varya in Russian.

Sergey told Varya that she hadn't thought things through and never behaved this way before, but Varya insisted Geoffrey had come to terms with his mistakes.

Geoffrey couldn't understand what was being discussed in a foreign language, but he could tell Varya's loved ones were disappointed and not happy.

Geoffrey asked Varya's family to accept him for who he is now and not focus on who he was in the past, but Sergey said, "People don't change." Larissa also pointed out she no longer approved of Varya moving to the United States.

Larissa wanted Varya to have a beautiful family and live a beautiful life with a good man. Sergey just wasn't convinced Geoffrey's past was truly in the past, and Larissa was stressed and worried.

STEPHANIE AND ERIKA

Stephanie and Erika had argued so much in Stephanie's first few days in Australia. Stephanie felt alone and said she had no one to talk to, including her mother, who didn't know Stephanie was bisexual and had a girlfriend.

Erika asked Stephanie to meet up and talk, and they only had two more weeks together.

"I don't trust her enough to want to have sex with her. I'm beginning to see there is something about us that is kind of incompatible," Stephanie told the cameras.

Erika brought Stephanie a huge bouquet of flowers after the girls spent the night apart. Erika brought them as a peace offering to show she wanted to apologize for her behavior and still loved her.

Erika felt bad for having stormed out on Stephanie, but she said they had a lot of issues to work out, such as their lack of intimacy. Erika also wasn't sure why Stephanie felt she couldn't trust her, and Stephanie explained she had been burned many times before in relationships.

Stephanie acknowledged they were still getting to know each other and the nature of some of Erika's friendships and lifestyle habits made her "really uncomfortable." Stephanie clearly wasn't okay that Erika had been intimate with some of her friends in the past.

Erika was glad Stephanie was being open and honest with her, and Erika insisted she wasn't the type of person who would wrong or betray her. Erika wanted Stephanie to meet the rest of her friends and grow to trust her.

As for Stephanie, she admitted she had to work on her jealousy issues and become more trusting.

Stephanie was trying to push her boundaries to prove to Erika that she loved her, but she was nervous to meet Erika's friends, who were very important to Erika. Erika claimed Stephanie had nothing to worry about.

Erika brought Stephanie to a party, and Stephanie tried to have fun although she couldn't stop thinking about how Erika had hooked up with some of them.

Adam was one of Erika's best friends, so she wanted Stephanie to get along with him. However, Erika and Adam had made out twice before.

Stephanie wanted to keep an open mind, but the group partied hard and Stephanie admitted this was "so not [her] scene." Stephanie called Adam and Erika's friendship "weird," and she thought Adam was all over her.

While sitting down and enjoying some drinks, Stephanie flat out asked Adam if he had feelings for Erika in any way other than just friends. Adam insisted he and Erika were very close but they genuinely just had a friendship.

Stephanie said she was "freaked out" about Erika's past with Adam, but Adam told Stephanie to believe Erika's words although he and Erika had obvious chemistry. Adam later told the cameras Stephanie just couldn't handle the fact Erika had hooked up with some of her girlfriends in the past as well.

Erika was mad Stephanie brought up their issues again when they were supposed to be having fun, but Stephanie argued she had every right to ask a couple of questions. Stephanie said the situation was "weird" for her and Erika had no right to get upset.

Erika accused Stephanie of yelling at her, and then she said, "I'm done," before storming off.

"This is ridiculous," Erika complained.

Stephanie said she tried to control certain situations to avoid getting hurt, and she was tired of Erika running off every time they faced an issue.

During the party, Stephanie called her friend Heather on the phone, and Heather said it wasn't good Erika had been intimate with some of her friends. Stephanie was feeling "conflicted and confused," so she removed herself from the situation.

Stephanie was ready to go home, venting about how her trip had gone "so badly." Heather advised Stephanie to stay strong, compose herself and talk to Erika later on.

"I came here thinking Erika was the person I was going to spend the rest of my life with, that she would be the person that would understand my illness and make me feel more comfortable coming out to my family," Stephanie said in a confessional.

"Now, after all of this, I'm kind of realizing how much I still don't know about her. And I don't see how we're going to make any sort of commitment by the end of this three weeks. I'm not even sure if I want this relationship any more."

LISA AND USMAN

Lisa had been in Nigeria for a couple of weeks and her trip was about over; however, the pair had yet to get married because their meeting with Usman's mother Fatimatu didn't go well.

Although Lisa had given Usman's mother a goat and showed up in traditional Nigerian attire, Lisa still failed to receive a blessing. The couple therefore resorted to Plan B and decided to meet with Usman's brother's Muhammed for some advice on how to proceed.

Usman said Fatimatu always listened to Muhammed because he's the eldest of her children. Usman felt he was under some serious pressure and hoped Muhammed would talk to their mother and convince her everything was going to be okay.

Muhammed said Fatimatu was shocked to see Lisa was American, Caucasian and much older. Usman insisted he was in love with Lisa, but his mother clearly didn't want him to leave the country and be so far away from her.

Usman assured Muhammed the economy in America is "so strong" and he wanted to move to "the No. 1 country in the world." Lisa said she was desperate to marry her "destiny, [her] everything." Muhammed decided to defend their love and try his best to win his mother over.

Usman feared he and Lisa were attempting an impossible feat.

"If we don't get Mom's blessings, I can't marry her," Usman said of his fiancee.

Muhammad was not able to convince his mother to give Lisa and Usman her blessing, so Lisa was stressed about the clock ticking. She and Usman were running out of time.

Muhammad suggested Usman and Lisa should pray at a mosque since Fatimatu is a devout Muslim, and Fatimatu did eventually show up and join them. Fatimatu told the camera she was worried Lisa would turn Usman into a servant in America.

The religious experience was quite different for Lisa, who did everything in her power to blend in and follow the rules, including dressing the part.

Usman's mother continued to insist Lisa was too old for him after the service, and Lisa admitted that was "heartbreaking." Lisa said she couldn't approve of her son marrying an older woman for that reason.

"It's looking grim, and at this point, our relationship could be over," Lisa told the cameras.

DAVID AND LANA

On his sixth day in Ukraine, David was ready to meet his girlfriend Lana in-person for the first time. He had been wanting to marry Lana for many years and couldn't get her out of his mind.

David woke up in Lana's hometown after finally hearing from Lana online, and he asked her to meet him for lunch at a restaurant. Lana responded, "Okay dear, I can't wait to see you."

Later that day, David couldn't wait to hold Lana, kiss her and finally determine once and for all she's real. David bought nine red roses for Lana to make their first meeting as romantic as possible.

David said he told Lana everything and so the fact they were about to have their first date was "incredible." At 1:50PM, David ordered two glasses of champagne and anticipated Lana's arrival with bated breath. David said he was so nervous that he was sweating through his shirt.

David changed his shirt in the bathroom in order to look his best, and he gushed to the cameras about how he wanted to be with Lana for the rest of his life.

At 3:05PM, Lana was still nowhere to be found, and David was left waiting at a table in a restaurant by himself. David didn't have Internet access in the restaurant, so he couldn't message her to find out what was going on.

"If she just meets me for five minutes, it's five minutes longer than I've ever spent with her before," David said in a confessional.

At 3:56PM, David was still alone and frustrated. He realized in that moment Lana was not going to show up and it was just like at the train station.

"How could she do this to me again?" David vented to the cameras, before finally paying his tab and leaving the restaurant.

David's waitress, Anna, said this was a very typical situation in her restaurant -- for a man to come in, wait and be stood up. She joked that it would be a shame to waste the flowers.

David felt he deserved more from Lana. Since he had Lana's address from her cruise registration last year, he decided to drive to her house to essentially chase her down and confront her.

David said there was a chance Lana was going to be angry with him for showing up unannounced and uninvited, but he didn't feel he had a choice since she had stood him up.

David eventually arrived at Lana's apartment building, and so he walked right up to her front door and rang the doorbell.

"This is scary for me," David admitted.

Suddenly, the door opened and David had a surprised expression on his face.

AVERY AND ASH

Avery was still concerned Ash tended to "sugarcoat things." She said in order to overcome challenges, partners need to be real and honest with each other about certain situations. Avery also had a problem with Ash's relationship-coaching business, saying something had happened that upset her.

Ash took Avery to the Great Barrier Reef and hoped to recreate the vibe they shared in the beginning of their trip. Ash just wasn't Avery to let loose, have fun and build trust in him.

The pair went snorkeling and had a romantic adventure, but Avery said she needed to ask more questions before even thinking about taking him home to America with her.

Avery then asked Ash what type of clients he had, and Ash explained successful women contacted him who didn't have time to connect with men. Ash said he tried to connect women with eligible bachelors, but Avery expressed her shock over seeing Ash's phone earlier and that he had a whopping 68 text messages waiting for him.

Avery didn't know which women were clients and which ones were contacting him for other reasons. She wasn't sure she could date a man who made himself accessible to other women at all times.

"I think you don't have room to tell me that," Ash replied.

"I do have room to tell you that. That's not fair at all," Avery said.

"Baby, I myself am gradually understanding okay what works best for me. I'm single right now," Ash claimed.

Avery couldn't believe Ash claimed he was still single considering she had just traveled across the world for him and their relationship.

Ash corrected himself and said he was "single before" and just wanted to spend time with Avery, but she was totally caught off-guard and called Ash's words "an instant punch to the gut."

Ash told Avery that she was in his life and he had expressed himself wrong. Avery worried Ash was hiding something from her because when she asked him questions, she felt he got "flustered" and entered a "defense mode."

Ash said his tone became serious when they had these conversations but he wasn't defensive. Ash felt he was very open and honest with Avery, especially since he had once sent her a text exchange with a female client that was trying to hit on him.

Ash tried to prove he ignored flirtatious advances from his clients, but Avery said Ash didn't explain to the woman that he was in a relationship at the time -- which led to one of their breakups.

Avery wanted Ash to acknowledge he had a woman in his life, but Ash argued she was all over his social media. However, Avery pointed out Ash's clients couldn't see his social media accounts.

Ash said he'd be mindful of his behavior in the next situation based on Avery's reactions in the past, but she still felt uneasy and hoped Ash was being true to her. Avery simply didn't know what Ash said to his clients.

YOLANDA AND WILLIAMS

Yolanda's daughter Karra had realized Williams' Instagram account was suddenly changed to a Nigerian account. Yolanda couldn't get in touch with Williams, and then she received a blackmail email asking her for money or else private pictures of her would be posted online.

Yolanda had apparently sent nude photos to Williams, but she didn't believe Williams was behind this. Instead, Yolanda figured someone had hacked into Williams' social media account and stolen her sexy photos.

Yolanda told Karra that Williams wasn't responding to her anymore, and Karra insisted her mom probably would never hear from Williams again because she was being scammed and played the whole time.

In Yolanda's heart, she didn't think Williams was Nigerian and suggested he might've been hacked. Yolanda then revealed her email threat to Karra but was reluctant to share that she had sent intimate photos.

"I am very upset with my mom. That's just not something she raised us to do. That's very shocking that she would send pictures to someone she's never met face-to-face," Karra told the cameras.

Yolanda also said the blackmailer threatened to harm her if she didn't send money, revealing that this person knew her address. Yolanda had given Williams her address to send her flowers, but Yolanda admitted she had never received flowers.

Karra couldn't believe her mother had given out all of her personal information, and Yolanda acknowledged she needed to get to the bottom of everything.

"This threatening email didn't come from Williams. This man's tone is totally different from Williams. The threatening email seems like an evil man," Yolanda explained.

"When a scammer gets caught, they change," Karra said, adding that Williams was a scammer from the beginning and she knew the truth.

Karra tried to convince Yolanda that Williams couldn't be trusted, but Yolanda was still in love and said she had spoken to Williams for hours on the phone.

"I know he still loves me," Yolanda noted.

"I understand Karra's concern, but she doesn't know Williams like I know him. Williams will have an explanation for what's going on, so I have to keep texting him. I'm just hoping he gets back to me with some answers."

DARCEY AND TOM

Darcey was hurting over the "pretty nasty things" Tom had said to her, and she said she decided to walk away from Tom for good. Darcey had apparently blocked Tom's number as well as all of his social media accounts, so she insisted she was "done" and their relationship was over.

Darcey returned home and intended to move on with her life and put on a good face for her daughters.

Darcey was then shown meeting with her twin sister Stacey Silva at a restaurant in Connecticut to talk about what happened. Darcey shared how Tom had supposedly found love with another woman and he probably just felt guilty about having moving on while they were still together.

Stacey was proud of Darcey for standing her ground, walking away on her own, and holding her head high. Stacey revealed how Tom had tried to make her feel worthless by mentioning alleged weight gain, and Darcey said a man had managed to break her heart once again.

"I don't understand why this keeps happening," Darcey cried. "I don't deserve it."

Stacey assured Darcey in tears that she was going to find love, and Stacey had a hard time hearing what her sister had to go through. Stacey told Darcey to think positively and she'd get through it, with the help of her family.

Darcey said it was reassuring that Stacey had her back, but she was still feeling upset and overwhelmed.

"There's someone out there for me and it's definitely not Tom, but he's out there somewhere. I don't give up on love," Darcey said in confessional.
