Jenny and Sumit previously appeared on all three seasons of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, which follows American citizens moving to foreign countries for the sake of love.
In a departure from 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?'s original premise -- which was continuing to follow the lives of couples who married after the American resident's foreign partner came to the United States on a K-1 visa -- Usman and Kim are not married, and neither are Ed and Liz (nor is Liz even a foreigner).
Jenny and Sumit are in fact married, but their wedding or ceremony never aired on TLC. In addition, the couple are also not living in America but in India, Sumit's home country.
Kim and Usman appeared on Season 5 of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days and the season showed Kim traveling overseas to meet Usman in person for the first time. Usman also previously appeared on Season 4 of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days with his prior American partner Lisa Hamme, whom he married in the show's season finale.
Ed and Liz previously appeared on Seasons 1 and 2 of 90 Day: The Single Life on Discovery+.

"As these couples navigate the next chapter of their relationships, they'll be put to the test on everything from emotional affairs to disapproving family to immigration issues. With these couples kissing the honeymoon stage goodbye, are they headed toward happily ever after or happily never after?" TLC teased of the new Happily Ever After? season.
Below is what happened on Sunday night's episode of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?'s seventh season.
JENNY and SUMIT
Jenny had just dropped a bomb on Sumit's father and brother that they were planning to move to America, where they would be accepted. But Sumit told the cameras he didn't want to move there and lose his family and friends. Sumit was therefore shocked Jenny had put that on the table without consulting with him first.
Sumit's father made it known he wasn't going to change his mind and it would be okay for Sumit to leave.

Sumit's father also thought this relationship was only going to last a year or two and that Sumit would ultimately come back home.
Anil said Sumit's mother wasn't happy and wept day and night because she wants to have grandkids and Jenny is too old to get pregnant again.
Sumit had told his brother that he'd like to adopt a child with Jenny, but he had never discussed this with his wife, and so he hoped his brother wasn't going to bring this up in conversation.

Given Jenny and Sumit were already married and they couldn't change that, Sumit asked what they could do to get back on his mother's good graces and receive a little approval. Anil said the only way would be to get a separation and find "someone better."

Jenny's daughter was upset they couldn't help and make a difference. No one seemed to care if Sumit left India and moved to America, which made Jenny said her case for moving back home was "stronger than ever."
After the meeting, Christina told Sumit it was time, after 10 years, for Sumit to move to the U.S. because his relationship had been one-sided for long enough. But Sumit admitted he wasn't ready and the idea of relocating to a new country scared him.
Jenny said she had risked everything and left a grandchild behind to be with the man she loved, and Jenny wanted Sumit to prove that he would do the same thing for her. Jenny said it could take up to two years to get his visa and so they should start on that right away.
Sumit was angry Jenny had consulted with a lawyer behind his back, and he thought they had mutually decided to live in India together. Sumit suggested that Jenny was trying to change the plan they had both agreed on many years ago.
Sumit then suggested he'd like to adopt a child and raise the baby in India. Jenny said they had discussed this many years ago and decided not to have kids together.
Jen and Christina also called Sumit out for never wanting kids -- until now. The women said Sumit never should have married an older woman if he had the idea of wanting kids in the back of his mind.
Sumit thought raising a child would potentially win his parents back, and Jenny was frustrated about Sumit constantly making his family the priority over his wife. Christina also pointed out how Sumit's desperation to fix his relationship with his parents could ruin his marriage and result in him losing Jenny.
"After everything that we've been through, I never thought we wouldn't be on the same path," Jenny admitted. "We've fought so hard and it's been too long. Did we do the right thing in getting married? If this is what Sumit wants his future to look like, then I don't really want to be a part of it."
ANGELA and MICHAEL
Angela and Michael were shown meeting up with Michael's friends, Michael and Ade, whom she thought had been against her marriage from the beginning. Angela hadn't seen this men in five years, but she agreed to go in order to make Michael happy.Angela, however, was upset that he had been "seeing the goofballs" behind her back. She thought they were bad influences on Michael and talked badly about her behind her back. But Angela didn't want to start a fight with Michael before leaving Nigeria. She intended to be calm and not "raise hell."
Michael just wanted everyone to be on good terms before he moved to the United States and had to leave his friends behind.

When Angela saw Michael's friends, they told her that she looked really "good," and she replied, "I know."
The men said they had heard Angela was in Nigeria because word had traveled through the neighborhood about the scene she caused at Michael's in the late night hours.
The conversation was immediately tense and quickly escalated, with Ade asking Angela to "calm down" and Angela calling him "a f-cking pig" before threatening to flip the table over.
"Handle this m-therf-cker or I will!" Angela told Michael.

Michael thought his friends were being disrespectful to Angela, who called the men "nasty" and "foul." Michael supported his wife, whom Michael's pals called the "villain."
The guys didn't think Michael was happy because he loved being on Instagram. When Michael defended his wife, it gave Angela hope that they could actually make it.
Angela was finally convinced that Michael truly loved her, and the pair intended to stay together regardless of their differences and fights.
When Michael dropped Angela off at the airport in Nigeria, he promised that they'd be together soon. Angela hoped Michael wouldn't make any more mistakes, and the couple planned to wait for the visa to be approved, hopefully sooner rather than later.
"We can't keep being apart like this," Angela cried to the cameras.
"It's okay," Michael comforted his wife, "we will be together soon."
Michael said he was going to miss his wife and wasn't looking forward to being alone again.

JOVI and YARA
Yara called Jovi "annoying" as the couple explored a town in Prague, but Jovi asked her to stop treating him like he's "stupid" because he can't speak Ukrainian. The pair took a small hike with Yara's best friend Karina and one of Jovi's pals.Jovi and Yara were on completely different pages about where they were going to live.
Yara wanted to stay in Europe, in her "homeland" with her family and friends, but Jovi wanted her to return to America with him. Karina called Jovi "really selfish" for trying to take his wife away from all that.
Jovi complained to the cameras that Yara was "easily influenced" by her friends and she clearly had Karina and her mother in her ear, trying to make decisions for her.
"I don't feel like you should be able to make this decision without me," Jovi told Yara in a confessional.
Yara said she only wanted to stay in Europe while Jovi was away for work, and maybe a little bit longer. But Jovi was afraid that stay was going to get "longer and longer."

Yara then vented, "I've been miserable for two-and-a-half years. Let me be happy a little bit, okay?"
Yara explained how she had been stuck at home by herself with a baby for fourth months -- twice.
Jovi said he was done with the conversation and Yara was going to fly back home to the U.S. with him whether she liked it or not.
If Yara was miserable in her marriage, Jovi didn't know what that meant for their future together. Jovi was afraid that if Yara stayed in Europe and had her mother's help with their daughter Mylah, she'd never want to return to America.
Yara said Jovi was just upset because he was losing control over her and he was wrong about her wanting to stay in Europe forever. She felt Jovi had lost trust in her and didn't want to support her dreams.

Yara acknowledged that the more Jovi fought to keep his family together, the more he was unintentionally pushing her away from him.
Yara didn't want to feel controlled or give into Jovi's demands for her and their relationship.
"I'm starting to think if I don't agree with her staying, Yara could leave me and never come back. But at the same time, I don't want her to come back to the U.S. and be miserable and angry," Jovi explained in a confessional.
KIM and USMAN
Kim was upset and "irritated" because Usman had allegedly led her to believe that his brother Mohammed new about the potential adoption of his son already. Kim couldn't believe the option hadn't even been discussed before her visit to Nigeria.Kim's son Jamal was also concerned about the situation and admitted he felt upset with Usman too. Jamal said withholding information in a relationship is viewed as a lie in his family.
Jamal then asked Usman if he and Kim should live together before welcoming a child into the picture. Jamal said it seemed Usman didn't realize how much Kim did for him and had sacrificed for him.

"I'm only looking out for her... and she's always going to have my support," Jamal told Usman. "Someone has to be there for her."
Usman suggested his relationship with Kim was just fine, and he told the cameras that Jamal got into his mother's business a little too much. Usman thought an adoption would be the only way for Kim and himself to move forward in their relationship.
Kim thought Usman should've done a better job of communicating. When it comes to possibly becoming a parent, Kim thought she needed to know everything.
Usman said he had a great connection with Mohammed's son because they have the same blood, and so he thought an adoption would be great -- both for Kim and himself as well as the whole family.
Kim gave the young boy, Mahadi, a gift, and Jamal also played football with the kid. Kim thought Mahadi was an amazing kid, but she didn't know what Mohammed was going to think and feel about Usman's proposal.
Usman then explained to Mohammed how he couldn't have two wives in America. He therefore recommended adopting Mahadi as his own, and Mohammed and his wife seemed very surprised.

Kim called the conversation "awkward," like she and Usman were trying to steal this couple's child away from them and uproot Mahadi from the culture he knew and loved. But Usman insisted Mahadi would have the best education possible and they'd provide everything he needs in America.
Mohammed said he would want Mahadi to grow up Islamic, with certain religion and cultural beliefs. Mohammed therefore asked Kim how she would implement Hausa culture in Mahadi's life.
Kim said she was learning new things from Usman every day, but Mahadi's mother thought it would be strange for her son because America is so different. Mohammed said religion is the most important thing, and so Jamal asked the couple if they wanted Kim to convert to Islam.
"I'm not doing that, absolutely not," Kim announced. "I'm not going to convert to Muslim... This is why I said you needed to talk to them before I got here. To surprise them with this is just not cool to me."
Kim felt Usman had put her in a very difficult position, and Jamal said this conversation was happening too fast because the couple had never even lived together and they still had issues.
Jamal thought Usman was taking advantage of how much Kim was willing to do for him, but Kim reminded her son that Usman really loved her.

Kim told the cameras that her mind was not made up about the adoption and she hoped to talk to Mohammed and his wife more about it in the future. Jamal, on the other hand, only saw "red flags."
ED and LIZ
Ed and Liz had talked about getting out of San Diego and moving into a house together to start fresh as a couple. Ed said he'd be open to that. While walking near the beach one day, Liz brought up how she had gone back to work and she wanted to make sure Ed was okay with that. Liz had been working with cut hours, but she planned to return as a full-time restaurant manager.
Liz wanted Ed to know there would be nothing to worry about with her being back at work. Ed told Liz that he wanted to give her space and independence and that her financial contribution would help.

But Ed was also afraid about Liz being away from him so much. He also didn't like the idea of Liz staying at the restaurant until midnight or 1AM or picking up a weekend shift.

Ed said he'd never be okay with Liz working that late at night, but Liz said it wouldn't be possible for her to just work days. Ed wanted Liz to come home to him after work and snuggle on the couch -- not party with her co-workers, which apparently led to breakups in the past.
"What you say goes," Liz replied, adding how this situation wasn't worth fighting about. "I'm following your terms."
Liz explained in a confessional how she couldn't be held back because she needed to prove she could support her daughter and that Ed's resistance made her feel like she had to choose between him and her job.
Later on, Liz was offered a promotion to be a part owner of the Encontro restaurant, which would make her completely financially stable. But if Liz accepted the offer, she'd have to work more hours, which would strain her relationship with Ed.
Ed visited the restaurant that night to show that he supported Liz, but he seemed upset when Liz dropped the bomb on him about potentially becoming a partner. Ed thought Liz wanted to move away from San Diego, and so he was confused.
Ed didn't want Liz's job to take over her life and consume her life. He didn't want to go back to the way things used to be, when they were fighting all the time.

ELIZABETH and ANDREI
Elizabeth and Andrei were trying to enjoy their lives and not think about immigration. Elizabeth's father Chuck then revealed at the pool one day he had met a woman online and was planning to meet her. Chuck said he was hoping for good things, and Elizabeth seemed happy for him."I'm proud of you," Andrei declared.

Andrei suggested they could go on a double date, and Chuck said that situation would make him feel more comfortable because he was very rusty when it came to dating.
Elizabeth said she would support Chuck but never envisioned going on a double date with her dad.
Meanwhile, Charlie and Megan confirmed they had no relationship with Chuck, Elizabeth and Andrei. Charlie accused Elizabeth and her husband of "dividing" their family, and Charlie said it hurt her mother terribly when Elizabeth announced her second pregnancy online.

Charlie thought he had Jenn on her side and that Becky was coming around. He called Elizabeth and Andrei "selfish assh-les" and wondered why Elizabeth had made her out to look like such a monster.
"I'm good with my family, except with the people who are close to Libby and Andrei. So that tells you everything you need to know," Charlie said in a confessional.
Charlie planned to defend himself during the family's first therapy session, and Megan said if Andrei tried to hit Charlie, she would call the police on him and attempt to get him deported back to Moldova. Megan said she'd be willing to do "anything" because she was "over it."
Jamal told Kim that she couldn't let Usman make all the decisions, and Kim seemed to agree. Kim felt Usman was going "too far" and she had sacrificed enough already.
Elizabeth and Andrei just hoped Chuck's date wasn't going to be a partygirl or gold digger. It had been 10 years since Chuck was last in a relationship, and so he was feeling nervous and apprehensive.
Chuck's date was late for the hibachi dinner, and Chuck began to worry he was being ghosted. However, the woman named Lisa texted him and revealed she had tested positive for COVID-19. The woman explained she had been stuck at the doctor's office and would like to try for a date again.
Elizabeth told Chuck to ask for the woman's test results as proof she wasn't standing him up, but Chuck was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.
Chuck was proud of himself for taking a step and getting back into the dating game -- and then he enjoyed a nice dinner with his daughter and her husband. The trio enjoyed some laughs and had a good time.
Andrei still wondered if someone in Elizabeth's family had reported him to immigration, and it was still a waiting game for the couple on whether he'd be able to stay in America.
