90 Day Fiance couple Kalani Faagata and Asuelu Pulaa appear to be in for a big fight once Asuelu learns Kalani consulted with a divorce lawyer on Season 6 of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, so what happened between the couple? Are Kalani and Asuelu still together or have they split, and what do the latest 90 Day Fiance spoilers reveal about their relationship now?

Kalani, a 31-year-old from Orange County, CA, and Asuelu, a 24-year-old from Samoa, met in July 2016 when she had taken a trip to Samoa, where Asuelu worked as the activities director for the resort where she was staying.

During Kalani's second trip to Samoa, Kalani lost her virginity and got pregnant, which upset Kalani's whole conservative Mormon family, who were disappointed in Kalani's choice of partner since Low never wanted either of his daughters to marry a Samoan man like himself.

Kalani therefore applied for a K-1 visa so Asuelu could move to the United States and become a hands-on father to their son Oliver, who was born in January 2018 and was five months old at the time.

On Season 6 of 90 Day Fiance in 2019, Asuelu struggled to acclimate to American culture, but he and Kalani chose to get married in September 2018.

The season ended with Kalani finding out she was pregnant with their second child, and she later gave birth to another son, Kennedy, in May 2019.

On 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?'s fifth season, Kalani suggested her marriage was suffering and she was exhausted all the time because Asuelu wasn't helping out much and needed to step up.

Kalani and Asuelu moved in with Kalani's parents so they could help with the kids, but then Asuelu seemed to become insecure about not being the man of the house.

During one of the worst fights they ever had, Asuelu called Kalani "annoying" and "a b-tch" in front of her mother during a trip to California for Oliver's second birthday, and Kalani subsequently called Asuelu "a manipulator."

Kalani wished her marriage was about love, happiness and supporting each other, but she believed Asuelu just wanted to take possession of her and had reached her "breaking point."

In attempt to talk out their issues, Kalani and Asuelu went to counseling, which led to a fairly happy three months until the global outbreak of coronavirus in early 2020, which put additional stress and strain on Kalani and Asuelu's relationship.

During Part 1 of Happily Ever After?'s Season 5 Tell-All that aired in September 2020, Kalani and Asuelu apparently hadn't been communicating much at all and were in "a really rocky place."

Kalani explained she and her husband were in a toxic pattern of fighting -- with Asuelu coming and going -- and Asuelu had to stop being so combative and defensive.

On 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?'s sixth-season premiere, Kalani and Asuelu were doing better as a couple and looking for a new house to move into so they could be a family in their own space.

Asuelu apparently nailed down a full-time job of driving for a ride-sharing service. He said he was making a lot of money and they were doing much better financially.

Asuelu attempted to be nice to Kolini, but she questioned if his behavior was "fake" because it seemed "rehearsed," like "an act."

Kalani even noted it all felt "a little too good to be true" and she hoped "another round of bullsh-t" wasn't right around the corner.

Kolini wasn't happy upon hearing Kalani and Asuelu planned to buy a house together, especially when she learned from her sister that Kalani and Asuelu weren't even sleeping in the same room at night.

"He basically comes in the room and just wants to have sex at this point," Kalani told Kolini while shopping one day. "It's like we have conjugal visits at this point."

Kalani said there was no romance in her relationship and she basically lived with "a friend with benefits," although she admitted there weren't really any benefits for her in the situation.

Kalani told Kolini that Asuelu never took her out on dates or made her feel loved.

"He thinks no matter what he does, we're going to stay together... He doesn't think there are any consequences for his actions... Why am I in a relationship by myself? I am 'Single, Married,' and I don't want to be anymore," Kalani explained.

Kalani therefore approached Asuelu about spicing up their love life and trying new things in the bedroom. She wanted him to understand her definition of the word "romance," which made Asuelu look his cool again and call his wife "annoying."

"I feel like I, yet again, fooled myself into thinking that this marriage was on the right track and that Asuelu was finally going to change, but of course I was wrong and the whole thing just collapsed again," Kalani said in a confessional.

"If this is who he really is, I don't see us buying a house together. And quite frankly, I don't really see a relationship with us in the future. I can't keep doing this anymore."

Kalani's dad then attempted to save his daughter's marriage for the sake of his grandkids and Kalani's happiness. He tried to convince Kalani to work through her issues with Asuelu and continue co-parenting their two boys.

Kalani was then shown meeting with an immigration lawyer, Tyler Todd, to find out her rights given she and Low had decided to co-sponsor Asuelu and be his financial support system in the United States.

Tyler explained that Low had agreed to be financially responsible for Asuelu for 10 years but under former President Trump's new law, Low and Kalani will actually be financially responsible for Asuelu in America for his lifetime unless he gets deported or becomes an official U.S. citizen.

Kalani had to decide whether she was going to stay married or become a single mom to two kids with a lot of financial burden.

But everything changed once Asuelu got into a bad car accident in which he totaled his vehicle.

"To me, it was a wake-up call to see what I truly wanted," Kalani said.

"When Asuelu first called me about the accident, hearing the panic and the terror in his voice just scared the sh-t out of me. I've never felt that way with him. Divorce has been on my mind... but he could have died. I don't want him out of my life. I love him. It made me realize that I really do love him."

Kalani realized she didn't want her boys to live without their father either, and Asuelu said he felt the same way -- that he didn't want to lose his family.

After visiting a sex-toy shop and purchasing a few fun items, Asuelu surprised Kalani with a romantic getaway.

"I think when we have a healthy sex life, we do get along better... but we still need to talk about communication. That's something we always have to work on," Kalani told her husband, adding that they finally felt like a real couple.

It turned out Asuelu had booked his family two cabin suites "in the middle of nowhere," according to Kalani. Asuelu had booked one cabin for Kalani and himself and another cabin for Kalani's mother and the two kids, who were still being breast-fed at the time.

Kalani appreciated Asuelu's effort but wished they had gone to a nice resort instead. She gave Asuelu a C- for the location and destination, but she tried to make the best of it and joked about having sex with Asuelu on a bunk bed.

Kalani wished Asuelu could learn the meaning of romance, but after checking Kalani's mom into their cabin, Asuelu surprised Kalani with rose petals on the floor, candles, champagne, and rose petals in the shape of a heart on the bed in the cabin where they'd be staying.

Asuelu said Kalani didn't seem to appreciate his gestures, but he was excited to get some alone time in the bedroom.

"Let's do this right away!" Asuelu said before shutting out the camera crew.

Kalani and Asuelu gushed the next day about having a lot of sex, and great sex at that. The pair then sat by a fire pit and Kalani suggested they should try to talk things out by doing a few communication exercises.

Kalani explained how she didn't like it when Asuelu yelled over her during a fight, and Asuelu said he wanted sex to become more routine in their relationship, more than once a week or every other week.

"I feel guilty that I went to a lawyer behind [Asuelu]'s back... It seriously feels painful and I'm going to have to tell him," Kalani explained after a good conversation with her husband, adding that she expected Asuelu to get mad and yell and scream upon hearing the news.

So are Kalani and Asuelu still together now or has the 90 Day Fiance couple broken up and divorced?

Kalani and Asuelu put on a united front when they recently competed on 90 Day Fiance: Love Games on Discovery's new discovery+ streaming service.

They appear to still be together and married -- at least as of February 2021, when Kalani revealed she and Asuelu were trying to rebuild their relationship and fix their problems.

"I think the pandemic was hard for all couples, and we already had a bunch of issues going into it, so I think we've just been trying our best, and that's just where we are," Kalani told Entertainment Tonight at the time.

"I feel like it changes on a daily basis, like a lot of marriages. I think we are in an okay spot."

But Kalani couldn't say she and Asuelu were in a "great" or "perfect" spot.

"I think we're good. We're working, we're both putting in the effort. It's not horrible like it was, but it's not amazing. We're getting there," Kalani shared.

"I would say we are getting to the right way. We are on the right track," Asuelu added.

However, Kalani is apparently approaching her marriage with a realistic point of view -- that it may not work out in the end.

"I just think that marriage is very hard and when you have a lot of other issues, like cultural issues and language issues and all of these things, it just makes it very complicated," Kalani told ET.

"But for right now, we are trying our best and hopefully, that works out. But, I mean, you never really know."

Asuelu also confirmed he started taking coronavirus seriously and "stopping going out" and "hanging out" with his friends.

Asuelu also said he regretted how he had treated Kalani on Season 5 of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, including when he called Kalani a "lying b-tch" in front of her mother.

Asuelu, calling that insult his "lowest point," explained to ET, "I think that's not who I am. I watch it and I hate it, and I don't want to be that person, but you know, it's good. I learned, it's a good lesson... [I'm] growing up, and... [becoming] a better person."

Kalani said Asuelu got attacked on social media for his behavior on the show.

"It just made him be better because a lot of people attacked him, so it made him look at himself and say, 'Yeah, probably shouldn't talk like that or do things like that.' So, I think overall, it probably helped our relationship more than anything," Kalani shared.

Kalani and Asuelu don't post about each other on Instagram or share photos with one another. Asuelu, for instance, has a surplus of videos with his two boys but Kalani isn't featured in any of them.

However, Kalani appeared to enjoy a family beach trip with Asuelu, her father, her two boys and her sister Kolini in March 2021.

Although Kalani cropped Asuelu's head out of the photos, his leg tattoos are a dead giveaway he was there.

And to ring in 2021, Kalani posted a video montage on Instagram of pictures taken in 2020, and Asuelu was featured in most of them.

Kalani and Asuelu also celebrated Christmas together in December 2020.
