Chantel and Pedro seem to love each other deeply, but outside influences continue to test their bond.
Chantel and Pedro met online over four years ago when Chantel was looking to learn Spanish and a friend connected her with Pedro.
Prior to starring on Season 4 of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, Pedro and Chantel appeared on Season 4 of the original TLC series, 90 Day Fiance, followed by Seasons 2 and 3 of its Happily Ever After? spinoff.
What began as a relationship for educational purposes quickly blossomed into a mutual crush.
Chantel then decided to advance things with Pedro and take a chance by visiting him abroad to meet him in person.
After a couple of more visits, Pedro popped the question, and Chantel was thrilled to accept his hand in marriage.
Chantel was 25 years old and living in Atlanta when Pedro first arrived in America on a K-1 visa. Pedro was 24 years old at the time.
Although Chantel and Pedro were engaged, Chantel lied to her family and downplayed the significance of her relationship by saying he was just visiting the United States on a student visa.

Chantel's family was quite suspicious of Pedro and his intentions with Chantel, but the pair still decided to get married regardless -- with or without their loved ones' approval.

Chantel's family were worried Pedro was only interested in marrying Chantel to be able to live in America long-term and benefit financially from their marriage.
They therefore forced Chantel and Pedro to sign a prenuptial agreement in order to protect Chantel's financial interests before their wedding.
But drama reached a point of no return when Chantel's parents subsequently hired a private investigator to research Pedro's family background and determine if he already had a wife or any children back in his native country.
Pedro hated that Chantel's family didn't trust him, and Chantel was torn between the people she loves most in her life.
Leading up to the Season 4 premiere of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, Chantel's parents seemed convinced Pedro was full of secrets.
Pedro has Chantel's family questioning his motives because he frequently sends money home to his mother and sister in the Dominican Republic.
Pedro's desire to constantly support his family and pay for their apartment has angered Chantel, who wants her husband to focus on their needs first.

As fans may recall, Season 3 of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? concluded with Pedro getting into a blowout fight with Chantel's family at the dinner table.
After River tried to shut Pedro down from telling Chantel and her loved ones to be quiet, Pedro ran across the table and attempted to hit him.
Tempers flared, weaves were pulled off, and the scene culminated into Chantel crying in a chair.
Chantel revealed on the season's subsequent Tell-All special she was not ready to try for a baby and expand their family due to all the chaos.
Chantel was still angry with Pedro and said she couldn't imagine welcoming kids with a man her family didn't respect and basically couldn't stand -- and vice versa.
As shown on the new season of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, Chantel has been waiting for Pedro to apologize to her family for his actions -- but he sincerely seems to believe he is the victim.
The situation became so tense that Season 4 of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? began with the couple considering a move to Savannah, GA -- which would require Chantel to transfer to another school to continue her education -- just to keep her family at a farther distance away.

Not only did Pedro decide not to attend Thanksgiving at Chantel's parents home because he simply didn't feel like he was a part of his wife's family, but Chantel also admitted to her husband she didn't want to have a baby with him until his issues with her family got resolved.
Pedro was then shown planning a trip back to the Dominican Republic to "escape" for a while from all the drama and see his family, but Chantel was worried the move would be permanent.
The couple then met with an immigration attorney to discuss the renewal of Pedro's U.S. green card, and Pedro mentioned potentially opening a business in his home country while continuing to live in the United States.
The immigration attorney revealed if Pedro obtains his 10-year Green Card renewal, he and Chantel could get divorced and he'd be able to stay in America.

Chantel would have to prove Pedro didn't enter their marriage in good faith in order to not be on the hook for him.
"Was this your plan all along? To come here and marry me just for a green card so you can leave me, use me and start your business?" Chantel vented in a confessional.

Pedro then hopped on his flight to the Dominican Republic with a heavy and confused heart. He used the couple's savings to travel.
"If I feel really good, I'll come back to [Chantel]. But right now, I am tired and have no fight," Pedro said in an interview.
Chantel -- who worried her marriage was "doomed" when she dropped Pedro off at the airport -- then told the cameras, "Right now, I feel like my marriage could be lost."
Pedro was confused about what to do about his wife and whether to stay married and living in the United States.
In a recent episode of the spinoff, Pedro partied with his friends and his sister's girlfriends in the Dominican Republic. What started off as an innocent night of drinking and partying, however, quickly escalated.
One girl gave Pedro a lap dance and the pair appeared to dance the night away. Pedro acknowledged he was probably going to be in "trouble" with Chantel, but he didn't really care because he was letting loose and having fun.
Back in Atlanta, Chantel admitted she missed her husband terribly, and she even contemplated traveling to the Dominican Republic to see her husband and hash things out.

Chantel then told Pedro that she was going to follow him to the Dominican Republic, and he pushed back and said he didn't want her to join him.
Pedro felt disrespected because Chantel always tried to control the situation. He also found himself in the middle of his wife and family, who refused to let Chantel stay with them.
In the latest episode, Pedro wasn't happy Chantel was trying to crash his vacation home in the Dominican Republic, but he was also upset with his sister and mother for not welcoming Chantel in their home.
Pedro's sister Nicole thought it was "selfish" of Chantel that she wasn't going to allow him to spend more time with his family since she'd soak up all his time.
Since Chantel was arriving the next day, he said he had one more night out with his friends. Pedro figured Chantel would eat up the rest of his time in the Dominican, and so he went to a sports pub as a result.
Coraima, the woman whom Pedro danced with during a previous wild night out, was present at the bar, and Pedro joked, "I'm married. I have to remember that."
Coraima didn't think Pedro's relationship was going to last because she felt they had too many issues and Chantel didn't treat Pedro right.

Pedro's friends teased that Chantel had him on a very short leash, and many of them begged him to leave her.
Chantel was later shown traveling to the Dominican Republic to meet up with Pedro. She knew Pedro didn't want her to come, but she was prepared to take a stand for herself and for her marriage.
Chantel wanted to find out for herself what was going on since she and Pedro had talked about divorce, Pedro's business venture, and more.

Chantel told Pedro that she wasn't going to stay at his mother's house or have anything to do with them during this trip. The couple therefore paid for a hotel room.
Pedro asked Chantel to say hello to his mother, and she agreed to a meeting out of respect for her husband. Chantel, however, demanded respect from Pedro's mother in return.
Things were very tense when Chantel met with Pedro's family because they were still looking for an apology from her stemming from the night Pedro fought her brought River at the dinner table, and things quickly got loud.

Chantel refused to apologize and Pedro's mother said she wasn't going to allow any more disrespect. Pedro's mother insisted she would have beaten up Chantel's relatives had she been present for the blow-up fight, but Chantel yelled that no one in particular is innocent or at fault.
Chantel's mother couldn't picture her son's marriage to Chantel working out.
So what happened since the Dominican? Are Chantel and Pedro still together or have they split?
It appears Chantel and Pedro are still together and married.Chantel and Pedro are secretive about their relationship and largely refrain from posting photos and updates of themselves together on social media -- presumably due to their contracts with TLC -- but it seems pretty clear their relationship hasn't ended.
The apparent evidence is the fact Chantel and Pedro's time on reality TV won't end with Season 4 of the Happily Ever After? series.
In April, TLC announced Chantel and Pedro will star in a new 90 Day Fiance spinoff called The Family Chantel that will air on Monday nights beginning in July 2019.
The Family Chantel will star Pedro, Chantel and their lively in-laws -- Chantel's parents Karen and Thomas as well as Pedro's mother Lidia -- and their siblings.

"This is an awesome moment for TLC, as we create a family show based on one of our most popular 90 Day couples, and on a whole new night," TLC executive Howard Lee added.
The network said fans can't get enough of Pedro, Chantel and their "larger-than-life families."
"For a brand known as the destination for love, relationships and family shows, The Family Chantel hits the bullseye," TLC explained.
If Chantel and Pedro weren't together anymore, it's very unlikely TLC would continue their story via The Family Chantel.
However, rumors recently swirled Chantel and Pedro may have split, and Chantel posted a May 4 comment on Instagram that prompted speculation her relationship is in trouble after all.
When a fan speculated Chantel and Pedro have split, Chantel just replied, "Seriously."
It's unclear however whether she meant "seriously" as a question out of disbelief or as a statement confirming it's true.
Chantel also posted a cryptic message Thursday on Instagram in which she wrote, "When the storm has passed, put your energy into rebuilding your life, don't waste time looking back."
