[90 Day Fiance Spoiler Warning: This report spoils if Nicole and Mahmoud are still together now and where the 90 Day Fiance couple is currently living].
Nicole, a 38-year-old food delivery driver and aspiring clothing designer from Los Angeles, CA, spent about a decade traveling the world, before she finally settled down in Los Angeles and went to fashion design school. Nicole worked a couple of jobs in the industry and hated it, which resulted in her studying meditation and spirituality.

Several years prior to filming the 90 Day Fiance spin off, she was on a spiritual singles' website and found an ad for a spiritual tour in Egypt.
She thought the trip was magical, and on the last day of her trip, she wandered into a fabric store and stumbled upon "a super cute boy with big brown eyes and big sexy muscles," who happened to be Mahmoud, a 26-year-old from Cairo, Egypt.
Mahmoud was from Cairo, and once the pair got to know each other in Egypt, he jokingly asked her to stay in Egypt -- a place she loved and was mesmerized by -- and be his wife.
Once Nicole returned to the United States, she and Mahmoud talked often and began to fall in love. Five days after her return to America, Mahmoud asked if she'd truly return to Egypt and marry him.
Seven days after that, she got on a plane to Egypt to live there.
They married at the Justice Department and then had a second wedding with a big party for friends and family. Nicole thought the magic would continue, but then she admitted she was in for "a rude awakening" and living in Egypt was "much different" than she thought.
"I was there for two months and I just needed to go -- get out of there and go back to America," Nicole admitted.
Nicole said she couldn't drive or speak the language and had really struggled with culture shock.
She therefore applied for a spousal visa and traveled back and forth between Egypt and America to make their marriage work, which resulted in the pair fighting all the time.
Eleven months into their marriage, Nicole decided to divorce Mahmoud, and she even blocked him.

"He tried changing things about me, and I said 'yes' to a bunch of things I shouldn't have," Nicole confessed. "He wants me to cover my body... and then he wanted me to cover my hair. No hugs from men [other than my Dad]."

Nicole was convinced to convert to Islam two days before marrying Mahmoud, and they also argued over Nicole's drinking habits.
"Every moment of your life is being Muslim. I'm definitely suffering the consequences of that decision. I don't follow the dietary restrictions and I don't cover my hair anymore. I don't think I need to do all those things to have a great relationship with God," Nicole explained.
Nicole said she respected where Mahmoud was coming from, especially because he's a religious man, but she had trouble dealing with his new rules and extremely high expectations of her.
But then Nicole missed Mahmoud and still loved him, so she decided to move back to Egypt and give their relationship another shot. Nicole still thought her husband was kind, sweet and strong.
Mahmoud allegedly promised Nicole that he would change to make her happy, and Nicole hoped Mahmoud could compromise this time around and give her the freedom to be herself, at least to some extent.
But Nicole and Mahmoud fought during Nicole's first night back in Egypt about what she was wearing, and Mahmoud feared his wife was going to leave him again.

The pair continued to fight about the same things, both in front of family and out in public in Egypt.
After Nicole wore a bathing suit that covered her whole body to the public pool, she and Mahmoud got into their worst fight ever.
Mahmoud said he was "done," and Nicole pushed her husband and yelled at Mahmoud to get "the f-ck" away from her and leave her alone. Mahmoud therefore left Nicole at a restaurant by herself and threatened her with divorce.
When Nicole and Mahmoud reunited, Nicole accused him of getting mad for no reason, and she said she felt "picked on." Nicole also scolded him for throwing divorce in her face during conflict, but then she apologized for pushing him.
"I'm not going to change," Nicole said.
"I'm not going to accept," Mahmoud countered.
"Okay, then it's done," Nicole said.

Mahmoud said he wasn't going to try to convince Nicole to stay with him, and so she vented about how she was "done" after three years of unresolved conflict.
Nicole decided that their relationship wasn't going to work and she planned to go back to America, where she actually wanted to live and could be herself.
But then Mahmoud told Nicole that he still wanted her to be his wife, and his brother helped the couple to resolve their issues, at least for the time being.
After four months of living in Egypt, Nicole and Mahmoud decided to start fresh. Mahmoud took Nicole to new places and she made a friend, a yoga instructor, and so she was finally beginning to think a life in Cairo could make her happy.
