But their problems didn't end there, as Jay moved into Ashley's primarily white suburban neighborhood and the couple became victims of malicious threats and racist comments due to their interracial romance.
As shown on 90 Day Fiance's latest sixth-season episode, Ashley discovered such remarks on the couple's wedding website.
"Did you ever figure out/suspect who left those comments on your wedding website?" one fan asked Ashley during a Q&A session on Instagram.
"Yes. Some guy from my highschool that I shot down," Ashley replied on Monday.
"He clearly didn't take rejection well to post on our knot site over 100 times a decade later. Police handled it."
When Ashley and Jay were bombarded with negativity on their wedding website, Ashley grew very discouraged and Jay was brought to tears.
Not only did people drop the "N-word" multiple times, but some people even referred to Jay as a monkey.

There were also threats of violence from someone who disapproved of their union. Ashley wasn't used to this behavior since she says Jay was the first black man she ever dated, and she asked her fiance to always be "on alert" when leaving their home.
"It's really hurtful. This is supposed to be the happiest time in our life... and this is making me question everything we're doing from here on out," Ashley said during Sunday night's broadcast.

"These comments make me feel really angry and make me want to go back to Jamaica and not be in America no more," Jay told the cameras in the episode.
