ABC has announced that new Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor editions will air as part of its Fall 2007 primetime programming schedule.

Although American Idol -- the show that caused ABC to move Dancing with the Stars currently-airing fourth edition to a Monday/Tuesday schedule -- won't return to Fox's schedule until next January, Dancing with the Stars' new fall season will air in the same regular time periods as the show's fourth edition.   Dancing with the Stars' fifth season 90-minute performance episodes will air Mondays at 8PM ET/PT and one-hour live result shows will follow on Tuesdays at 9PM ET/PT.

However, while Dancing with the Stars' highly-rated performance episodes have been serving as a direct lead-in for expanded 90-minute episodes of The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman, The Bachelor's currently airing tenth edition, that won't be the case in the fall.

Instead of airing 90-minute episodes in the Mondays 9:30-11PM ET/PT time period, The Bachelor's eleventh installment will return to the long-running reality franchise's previous one-hour format and air Mondays at 10PM ET/PT.   Sam I Am, a new half-hour sitcom starring Christina Applegate, will air in the half-hour period between Dancing with the Stars' fifth season performance episodes and The Bachelor's eleventh season episodes.

Once Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor conclude their fall seasons, ABC will premiere Cashmere Mafia, a new drama from former Sex In The City executive producer Darren Star, the second season of Notes from the Underbelly and the second season of October Road.

ABC had previously announced Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor's renewals as part of a March early renewal announcement in which the network disclosed that it had given early 2007-2008 season pick-ups to 14 television series, including Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.  The announcement followed an earlier January announcement in which the network had announced that Supernanny and Wife Swap had also already been renewed for the 2007-2008 season.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will also be part of ABC's initial Fall 2007 schedule and continue to air in its current Sundays at 8PM ET/PT time period however the fourth seasons of Supernanny and Wife Swap will debut sometime later in the season.
