Each hour-long episode wil go back and forth between at least eight different stories, and the officers and agents chronicled in the series are responsible for everything from vetting adoption papers and checking visitors' passports to intercepting undocumented immigrants, drugs and other contraband, and stopping potential terrorists trying to cross our borders.
ABC ordered Homeland Security USA in May under the title Border Security, and the 13-episode series is executive produced by former Big Brother producer Arnold Shapiro.
The series is based on Border Security: Australia's Front Line, which premiered in Australia in 2004 and is currently in its fifth season. ABC bought the format's rights and subsequently tapped Shapiro to helm the U.S. version.
