The Bachelor franchise has been rolling out successful couples in recent years but there hasn't been a televised wedding since Carly Waddell and Evan Bass, and now an ABC executive is explaining why.

ABC just passed on an opportunity to broadcast a special of Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham's January wedding in Hawaii, and two other couples -- Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo as well as Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon -- are currently hammering out the details of their 2019 nuptials.

Even JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers just revealed the ball is rolling on their wedding plans.
So will ABC choose to take advantage of any of these weddings and air them on ABC given Bachelor Nation seemingly demands them?

"I think we will, but it's a whole host of reasons [why it may not happen]. One is the least romantic of all: do we have room on the schedule for a wedding?" ABC reality chief Robert Mills told Entertainment Tonight in a recent interview.
"And we hate to say that someone is planning their wedding around a Thursday in February at 8PM. It has to be a couple that wants to get married on TV."
Both Rachel and JoJo, however, previously revealed they had a desire to get married on TV. And Arie and Lauren certainly didn't seem opposed to an on-camera ceremony.
When Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth were still together after three years, they too were optimistic about exchanging televised vows.

"But you talk about ratings, The Bachelor is a primarily female show, but there are also a lot of men who watch. And it's been hard to find men who want to watch a wedding, unfortunately," Mills explained.
"I don't know why, but you're cutting some of the audience right there... They definitely are hard sometimes from a ratings perspective, and you don't want to cut the budget because you're worried it won't rate well."
Over the years, fans had a front row seat to Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici's wedding as well as Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert's nuptials.
Bachelor Nation also witnessed Ashley Hebert and JP Rosenbaum tie the knot on TV, as well as Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter.
The Bachelor is currently airing its 23rd season starring Colton Underwood on Monday nights at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
