Following nationwide open casting calls and over 20,000 applicants, the first lucky individuals - Caroline, Catherine and Dan - were chosen for the once-in-a-lifetime chance to participate in "Extreme Makeover." The series of self-contained, one-hour episodes -- which will each feature people in their "before" phase, then as they undergo their various procedures and, finally, when the end results are revealed to their families and friends -- premieres on a new day and time, Thursday, September 18 (9-10 PM ET), on the ABC Television Network.

Caroline and Catherine are 32-year-old, mirror image twins who have grown apart, physically and emotionally, throughout the years and wanted extreme makeovers to bring them back together. Caroline, a dog groomer and mother from Carson City, Nevada, had rhinoplasty, a chin implant, lower eye lift, tummy tuck, breast implants, liposuction on the thighs and extensive dental work, including 12 upper porcelain veneers, aesthetic lip surgery, gum recontouring and two root canals. Her identical twin sister, Catherine, a hair stylist and mother from San Jose, California, had a tummy tuck, breast augmentation and dental work, including 8 upper veneers, teeth whitening, gum recontouring and orthodontics on the lower teeth.
Caroline and Catherine's "Extreme Team" included:
* Dr. Garth Fisher, a prominent board-certified plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills
* Dentist Dr. William Dorfman, one of the pioneers of tooth whitening
* Wardrobe stylist Sam Saboura, who has served as a celebrity fashion stylist for Lara Flynn Boyle, Sarah Jessica Parker, MTV's "Movie House" and the Osbournes
* Personal trainer Michael Thurmond, who has trained Paula Abdul
* Hair stylists Jennifer J. and Sean J., owners of Juan Juan Salon in Beverly Hills and celebrity hair stylists for Ashley Judd, the Dixie Chicks and Julia Roberts
* Celebrity makeup artist Kevin Hees, who has worked with Christina Aguilera, Jane Seymour, Rosario Dawson, Rachel Hunter and Jorja Fox
* Nutrition and diet plans provided by Sally Ann catering service
Dan, a 40-year-old radio producer and father from Seattle, Washington, wanted an extreme makeover to improve his self-esteem and catch the eye of a co-worker he's had a crush on. He had chin and jowl implants, buckle pads excision, liposuction on the cheeks, liposuction on the chest, abdomen and hip rolls, fat injections in the face, a hair weave, Lasik eye surgery and dental work, including gum reshaping, teeth whitening and 8 upper veneers.
Dan's "Extreme Team" included:
* Dr. Jon A Perlman, a prominent board-certified plastic surgeon in California
* Dentist Dr. William Dorfman, one of the pioneers of tooth whitening
* Dr. Robert Maloney, considered one of the 10 best Lasik surgeons in the world, who has performed Lasik surgery on such celebrities as Cindy Crawford and Barry Manilow
* Wardrobe stylist Sam Saboura, who has served as a celebrity fashion stylist for Lara Flynn Boyle, Sarah Jessica Parker, MTV's "Movie House" and the Osbournes
* Personal trainer Michael Thurmond, who has trained Paula Abdul
* Hair stylist Frank Mills, Founder of Euro Hair International for hair restorations - this is the first hair weave performed on "Extreme Makeover."
