ABC has announced its launching a nationwide search to find original creations for the second season of American Inventor, a reality series created by Simon Cowell and the producers of American Idol that looks to find the country's next great invention.

However in a change from American Inventor's first season, each of the show's first six episodes will end with the judges selecting one winner to advance to the semifinals and receive $50,000 in seed money to further develop and refine his/her product for the semifinal round. In the end, viewers will cast their votes for the invention they feel is most worthy of the show's grand prize -- $1 million dollars and the opportunity for the winning inventor to market their product worldwide.
Like American Inventor's first season, auditions are open to both individuals and teams, and to enter, contestants need only a sketch, a prototype or even a simple concept. ABC said most importantly, the invention "must be something that can be mass produced and sold to consumers in a retail outlet." While auditions are open to anyone of any age with a great idea, all people under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
The second season of American Inventor is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, June 6 at 9PM ET/PT on ABC. Casting calls will be held in the following six cities, and more information is available by visiting American Inventor's website or calling (888) 703-7728.
