At the cocktail party that will air during The Bachelor's January 5 premiere, each of Mesnick's 25 suitors will be asked to vote for the bachelorette she would "like to see leave immediately."
While each uses a different voting strategy, "one woman is in for a shocking surprise," according to ABC, which failed to elaborate further on the twist's outcome.
The Bachelor's thirteenth season will begin with Mesnick returning to the same Los Angeles mansion that served as The Bachelorette's fourth-season setting when he was courting DeAnna Pappas.
After Mesnick meets his 25 suitors the cocktail party ensues, and many of the women will apparently pull out all the stops to make a memorable first impression on him.

According to ABC, one flirtatious brunette tries to prove she is Mesnick's biggest fan by showing off her knowledge of his life; another bachelorette reveals she can assess a man based on his hot dog condiments; a school teacher admits she resigned from her job for the opportunity to meet him; and a flight attendant toasts to Pappas and thanks the former The Bachelorette star for passing on Mesnick.
The competition then intensifies when host Chris Harrison brings out the "first-impression rose," which causes a Brazilian bombshell to invite Mesnick for a sexy samba by the pool; a widow to share the story of her tragic past; and a birthday girl to think she is a lock for the rose.
All of this leads up to the aforementioned twist and Mesnick eliminating 10 of the 25 women, leaving 15 to compete for his affections.
Some of the "romantic and adventurous" dates Mesnick will take his suitors on during the thirteenth season will include a private performance by Robin Thicke at the Walt Disney Music Hall; a ride over Los Angeles in a Goodyear blimp; a day at Legoland California; a panoramic helicopter ride over Red Rock Canyon with a performance by pop singer Kate Voegele; and a behind-the-scenes trip to the set of ABC's General Hospital.
Mesnick will eventually escort his Final 3 suitors to New Zealand to make his final choice, however prior to that "someone from the Bachelor's past shows up for a shocking last minute, heart-to-heart talk" -- presumably a reference to Pappas.
