Adam Levine has revealed that Ellen DeGeneres "basically" named his daughter.
"Her name is Dusty Rose Levine," Levine confirmed.
"We had a name that we won't mention on television. The name game is a tough game. It's a very hard, arduous [game]. Just imagine you're writing the best song you've ever written in your life and you have to name it."
"I think I have a great name and I texted Ellen. She's like, 'I hate it. I think it's a terrible name.' I was like, 'Cool.' She gave me, like, five names to think about, like, this, this, this, this, Dusty," he recalled. "So, you basically named my kid."
Levine admitted Prinsloo initially wasn't keen on DeGeneres' idea. The 27-year-old Victoria's Secret model changed her mind, however, after Levine brought Dusty up again in the "11th hour."
"It's a beautiful color," DeGeneres explained.
Levine and Prinsloo, who married in Los Cabos, Mexico, in 2014, welcomed Dusty Rose on Sept. 21.
The singer told "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" in October that fatherhood has been a "beautiful experience."
"I like to think that parenting is something that we were literally put on this earth to do," he said.
"I've been a parent for three weeks; what do I know? I don't know anything, but it's kind of part of the beauty of it, honestly."
