Alan Bersten is becoming a very familiar face on Dancing with the Stars, as he's the go-to guy when male pro dancers suffer injuries.

During Week 2 of the currently-airing 24th season, Alan filled in for pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy following a calf injury and danced with former Glee star Heather Morris, who also served as a backup dancer for Beyonce.
Heather gushed about Alan's ability to pick up on the routine's choreography simply and quickly. Due to the fact Maksim just underwent surgery on his right leg, Alan will probably stick around for a while, as long as Heather earns enough home viewer votes to stay on Dancing with the Stars.

- Alan competed on Season 10 of So You Think You Can Dance back in 2013 when he was 19-years-old. Alan was eliminated in Week 6 of the competition, finishing in the Top 12 dancers and the Top 6 men.
- He was born on May 26, 1994. His family is from Russia but Alan grew up in Minnetonka, MN -- where despite his cold-weather upbringing, he had said he never went skiing or snowboarding.
- Alan is the youngest of three siblings, and his older brother Gene also previously auditioned for So You Think You Can Dance's tenth season. Alan thanks his older brother for teaching him how to dance.
- Alan played the guitar when he was younger and began dancing at age 7. He also attended the University of Minnesota.
- Alan loves watching documentaries, is addicted to chess, and considers gummy bears to be his weakness.
- Working with Heather isn't the first time he's filled in for Dancing pro. During Week 2 of Dancing with the Stars' 22nd season, Alan partnered with UFC fighter Paige VanZant when Mark Ballas was unable to perform their salsa routine because of a back injury.
