Alek Skarlatos is going to need a long vacation after his experience on Dancing with the Stars ends.

The 22-year-old Dancing with the Stars contestant suffered a broken nose while rehearsing with his temporary pro partner Emma Slater on Monday morning, TMZ reported.

According to Dancing with the Stars sources, Slater -- who was filling in for Lindsay Arnold as a result of the show's "Switch-Up" twist -- accidentally hit Skarlatos in the face with her elbow and he went down like a sack of bricks.

Medics reportedly checked Skarlatos out at the dance studio, and while a broken nose was the early prognosis, Skarlatos will need to get some X-Rays to confirm the type of injury.

Skarlatos is an American Army National Guardsman who became famous after heroically preventing a potential terrorist attack aboard a Paris-bound train in August.

Earlier this month, the train hero decided to fly home to Oregon after learning the news of a fatal shooting at Umpqua Community College, where he was a student and will likely enroll in classes again once he completes his stint on Dancing with the Stars.

Skarlatos wished he could've been at the Oregon college immediately after the shooting, which resulted in 10 deaths, to help first responders and offer his support to those affected by the tragedy.

And just last week, Skarlatos had to deal with his close friend and fellow train hero, Spencer Stone, getting stabbed multiple times in an area of downtown Sacramento. Stone, 23, pulled through, but authorities initially thought he wouldn't survive.

Skarlatos asked everyone on Twitter October 8 to send prayers to Stone's family. TMZ reported that Skarlatos even went to visit Stone in the hospital this past weekend.

So clearly, Skarlatos' practices for DWTS have been interrupted or cut short on numerous occasions. Hopefully he'll feel up to competing tonight when the show airs at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
