Amber Riley feels starring on Glee is more physically demanding than competing on Dancing with the Stars.

"Glee is more grueling [than] DWTS. Trust me," Riley told Us Weekly following her first live performance on the reality dancing competition with professional partner Derek Hough.

Hough and the 27-year-old actress received three 9's from Dancing with the Stars judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba during Monday night's live premiere -- for a total score of 27, which happened to be the highest score of the night after all 12 seventeenth-season couples took the stage and performed.

However, Hough, a four-time mirror-ball trophy champion, suggested Riley will be singing a different tune later in the season.

"Ask her again in a few weeks," Hough told Us. "DWTS is live and it's one take, so this is eventually going to be harder."

Riley seemed to agree with that perspective when she explained, "On Glee, there's cutaways, a take two... Eleven other people distracting your bad dancing. If you forget something, they can edit it out."

Hough apparently believes Riley has the makings to be an excellent partner, as she picked up on things quickly and remembered the steps during the first set of rehearsals.

"I saw right away she was really good at maintaining the things I was teaching her. She would come in the next day and have retained that information," Hough said. "We were able to get better and better. I'm going to whoop her ass now!"

Riley also told Us it gave her an extra boost to see her fellow Glee castmates sitting in the audience and supporting her.

"[Seeing them] gave me a lot of energy because my whole entire family was out there also," added Riley. "They were in front of me [while I danced]. I asked them not to sit there and they did anyway!"

Glee stars Chris Colfer, Jenna Ushkowitz, Kevin McHale, and Ashley Fink were all present for the seventeenth season's premiere broadcast, which aired Monday night on ABC.

All 12 Dancing with the Stars couples will return for another two-hour performance show on Monday, September 23 during which the judges' scoring from both weeks and the home viewer voting results following last night's broadcast will be combined and one couple will be eliminated.
