America's Got Talent dazzles viewers with death-defying acts that are rarely unsuccessful, but on Tuesday night's show, one man survived what could have been a fatal error.

During Tuesday night's performance show, Canadian stuntman and sword swallower Ryan Stock -- who previously placed a blow torch on his tongue and balanced a working chainsaw in his mouth -- swallowed a long pole with a red and white target on the end sticking out of his mouth.

Stock's fiancee, AmberLynn Walker, then attempted to hit the target with a flaming arrow dispensed from a crossbow. The result was shocking because Walker missed and instead hit Stock right in the throat.

Stock began coughing violently as he was hunched over and grabbing his neck in pain.

"Is everything okay?! Are you okay?" AGT host Nick Cannon urgently yelled out from the side of the stage.

"I'm okay, it got my shirt, I'm okay," Stock eventually assured the terrified crowd.

Stock gained his composure and brushed off the injury before hearing what the judges had to say.

However, America's Got Talent judges Howie Mandel, Melanie "Mel B" Brown, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell still stared at the man completely stunned and disturbed.

"Listen I don't think you are [okay]. I know what you do is wonderfully horrific, but that's the first time you missed right?" Mandel asked, as Walker nodded her head "yes" and had tears in her eyes. "And you are in pain and I would imagine after we are finished judging, you are going right to an EMT, right?"

Stock replied, "No," and then Mandel refused to accept that answer. However, Mandel urged fans to vote for this act due to its level of danger and difficulty.

After Brown said she appreciated Stock's act, Klum explained, "It really, really scared me... Now I know why I don't like these things! Because they can sometimes go wrong. And I feel bad!"

"Wait, stop this!" Cowell interjected. "Why are we judging this act? Amber just shot Ryan and he needs to go to a hospital now! I'm being serious."

Cannon assured the judges and audience Stock's neck was not punctured by the arrow, but he would still be checked out backstage.

After a commercial break, Cannon announced that Stock was cleared by doctors and doing just fine.

"We had a serious mishap tonight outage live on @nbcagt," Stock tweeted after the broadcast. "A very unfortunate mechanical failure but I am very fortunate to walk away from it."

Ironically, the couple had joked about a stunt going wrong before the act.

Walker asked her fiance, "Promise you won't be mad at me if I kill you?" Stock then responded, "Sure. I can promise that."
