"I feel so good right now," said an emotional Skinner before host Nick Cannon asked him if he was ready to headline the Vegas show.
"I'm ready to perform. I just always love to perform. I want to go out there and give them the best show I can. Thank America for voting me in. I love y'all."
Barbara Padilla, an opera singer from Houston, TX, finished as the fourth-season's runner-up.
Recycled Percussion, a musical band from Goffstown, NH, finished in third place. The Texas Tenors, a tenor trio from Houston, TX, finished fourth place and were followed in fifth place by The Voices of Glory, a sibling singing trio from Highland, NY.
Top 10 finals acts Hairo Torres, a contortionist breakdancer from Grants Pass, OR; Lawrence Beamen, a singer from Walnut Creek, CA; Fab 5, a team of tap dancing sisters from Morgan, UT; Drew Stevyns, a singer/guitarist from Sykesville, MD; and Grandma Lee, an elderly stand-up comedian from Jacksonville, FL, were all revealed to have been eliminated earlier in the broadcast.
In addition, the two-hour finale broadcast also featured performances from Leona Lewis, Shakira, Rascal Flatts, and Britain's Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle.
Skinner will headline America's Got Talent Live, a live version of the NBC reality series at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood Resorts & Casino that will be hosted by Jerry Springer.
America's Got Talent Live will begin its 10-week run on October 7 and also feature performances by other popular fourth-season acts.
