America's Got Talent host Nick Cannon also revealed that BMX racer Matt Wilhelm, singer Kevin Colis, tumblers act Zuma Zuma, dancer Beth Ann Robinson, impressionist Melissa Villasenor, and Russian bar trio Sandou Trio Russian Bar had received the six lowest home viewer vote totals and been eliminated from the competition.
The announcements then left America's Got Talent judges Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel with the task of deciding which of the two acts that had received the fifth and sixth highest vote totals -- Daniel Joseph Baker, a singer and pianist from Katy, TX, or West Springfield Dance Team, a high school dance team from Springfield, VA -- should become the fifth act to advance to the finals.
"I hate this pressure. I hate it. It's not fun. I have to say that West Springfield Dance Team, it is phenomenal what you did. I thought when you first showed up, you were great. And then I didn't like it the first time and then I thought, 'I loved it the first time.' I didn't like what you did the second time and then you brought it back. What's phenomenal -- Look, I'm spitting because I'm so excited," Howie said.
"What's exciting is that you didn't have any time to prepare unlike any other act on this show. Daniel, I said it last night, you are a star and people are watching you all over America and you have no reason to be concerned about who you are and what you are anymore. You do belong. But I truly believe this is the year of the dance, so I am going with West Springfield Dance Team."
Piers then cast his vote for West Springfield Dance Team as well, and two votes was enough to constitute Daniel's elimination without having to hear from Sharon.
"We've been saying for awhile it's the best season of talent. When I look at the names who have already gone home -- Melissa, Beth Ann, Zuma Zuma -- it shows you how good it is this year, and I can't believe these two acts are here. This is, without any doubt, the toughest decision we've ever had on the show nevermind this season. Both of you acts normally would be in the finals. I have no doubt," Piers explained.
"West Springfield, you've gotten better each round. You've had three consecutive weeks where we've loved you. Daniel, you're an amazing talent. You've got an amazing story. But we have to make tough decisions here and we're either going to make someone's dream come true or we're going to break someone's heart. The heart that I'm going to have to break reluctantly is Daniel's. I'm going to vote for West Springfield."
