America's Got Talent contestant Michael Ketterer delivered an amazing vocal performance that won him judge Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer during Tuesday night's episode on NBC.

Michael, a pediatric mental health nurse who currently resides in Fountain Valley, CA, took the America's Got Talent stage last night and performed a jaw-dropping performance of "To Love Somebody" for Simon and fellow judges Howie Mandel, Melanie "Mel B" Brown, and Heidi Klum.

Prior to his performance, a very nervous Michael had introduced himself to the judging panel and explained how he and his wife are the parents of six children, including five boys which they have adopted.

"One of the things that happens -- especially because my children came out of foster care -- [is] when you're surviving, you can't dream. And that has been one of the most rewarding things, providing them with a home and safe environment where they are free to dream," he told the judges.

"I'm here because I want to show them if their Dad can live out his dreams then nothing is impossible for them."

After his performance concluded, Michael had received a standing ovation from both America's Got Talent's studio audience and judges.

"Can I just say that was absolutely amazingly incredible! And you sing from your soul, Thank you for gracing this stage, thank you," Mel B told Michael after the judges returned to their seats and started their critiques.

"I think you have a great voice.  I am just blown away," Heidi said.

"I feel that when I watch you and I listen to you, I just want to be, you know, a fraction of the human being that I believe you are. You're a great performer, and you're a star human being," Howie gushed.

Simon then revealed his decision to use his Golden Buzzer, which automatically advances Michael to America's Got Talent's live shows, on the singer.

"Mike, you know what, when we find singers on these shows -- is it about being technical, or is it about being relevant? And sometimes for me, it's just about being real, and a surprise -- if I'm being honest with you, because you were so nervous, I was concerned for you.  But I think sometimes actions speak louder than words," Simon said before pressing the buzzer.

Afterwards, Simon came up on stage and congratulated Michael as the singer celebrated with his family.

"Let me tell you, [there's] something about your voice -- I genuinely mean this -- is special.  And everything was perfect.  You deserve it, I really mean it," he told Michael.

"I feel I just wanted to do the best for my family, and I didn't want to let anybody down," Michael explained afterwards.

America's Got Talent's next episode will air Tuesday, June 12 at 8PM ET/PT on NBC.
